The Knights of Pythias is the first fraternal organization to be granted a charter under a special act of the United States Congress in 1864. This year, along with lodges throughout North America, the Order is celebrating our 146th anniversary. The Knights of Pythias is a non-sectarian, fraternal organization, which does charitable work within our various communities. Over the years, the Massachus
etts Knights of Pythias has been responsible for the establishment of facilities, such as: Kiddie Kamp in Sharon, MA (later known as Horizons for Youth) a summer camp for underprivileged children; Handi Kids Camp(now known as The Bridge Center), a facility set on 17 plus acres in Bridgewater, MA, for disabled citizens; we have been instrumental in establishing and maintaining re-habilitation centers within the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton, MA and the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Hospital in Salem, MA; have been major supporters and contributers of close to $2,000,000 to United Cerebral Palsy; plus assisting many other charities within the local community.
