Not only do kids need to adjust to a brace, but parents do too! Brittany Ouimette's journey into parenthood has been filled with love, joy, and a few unexpected challenges. Shortly after birth her baby was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and soon after they began treatment with the Pavlik Harness. She is sharing their treatment journey to raise awareness of hip dysplasia and to provide resources for other parents like herself.

Braces are uncomfortable, and kids will not wear them. Busted!: While there is an initial break-in period, from our experience, most kids get used to braces quickly. It is important to work with your orthotist during appointments to make the bracing journey as comfortable and effective as possible. They have learned a few brace life hacks over the years!

Does Hip Dysplasia treatment with bracing delay walking and crawling development? Busted: It was found in a study from the Medical University of Warsaw that patients treated with DDH bracing were only delayed at most by 3 weeks, which, they concluded, does not significantly effect on the movement development.
