The Rose Parade is an iconic Los Angeles New Year tradition, and this year, UCLA Health transplant patient Mark Kessler was honored on the OneLegacy Donate Life float.

Diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2007, Mark managed his condition with medication for years. In 2024, as his disease progressed, changes in his heart function began to affect his liver, requiring more advanced care. His cardiologist referred him to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where he was placed on the heart and liver transplant waiting list as a result of his organ failure. Later that year, he received both a heart and liver transplant and experienced a remarkable recovery.

In 2025, Mark returned to full-time work, grateful for his renewed life and the generous gift from his donor. Learn more about our Heart and Liver Transplant programs: https://ucla.in/49yncyi
