When families walk through our doors at Silverado Rolling Hills, they are often carrying a mix of uncertainty, emotion, and hope. And then⌠they meet Bailey.
Bailey, our tiny Shih Tzu with an outsized presence, has become more than just a beloved companionâshe is the heart of our community. Originally the cherished pet of a former resident, Bailey remained with us after their passing thanks to the incredible generosity of the family. What they gave us was not just a dog, but a living, breathing source of comfort, connection, and joy.
At Silverado Rolling Hills, where meaningful engagement and connection are everything, Bailey plays a role that cannot be overstated. She instinctively gravitates toward those who need her mostâcurling up beside a resident during a quiet moment, following along during activities, or simply offering her calming presence. For residents who may struggle with words or memory, Bailey becomes a bridgeâsomething familiar, something safe, something that sparks emotion and engagement without effort.
But Baileyâs impact doesnât stop there.
For families touring our community, Bailey often becomes the moment everything shifts. She walks right into their experienceâsometimes literallyâand instantly changes the tone. Walls come down. Smiles appear. Conversations soften. In a setting that can feel overwhelming, Bailey creates an immediate sense of warmth and home.
Time and time again, we see it: a family unsure at the start of a tour, then visibly relaxed after a few minutes with Bailey in their lap. She has a way of showing, without words, exactly what Silverado is all aboutâlove, comfort, and connection. Itâs no surprise sheâs earned the nickname âBailey the Closer.â
The presence of animals in memory care is powerful. They reduce anxiety, spark joy, encourage socialization, and provide a sense of purpose. Bailey embodies all of thatâand more. She doesnât just brighten days; she transforms them.
At Silverado Rolling Hills, we believe that love is greater than fear. Bailey lives that truth every single day.
And sometimes, the smallest member of the community makes the biggest impact.
