Headache or migraine? Knowing the difference matters when you're trying to find relief.
👉 A headache might feel like dull, tight pressure around your head.
👉 A migraine usually involves throbbing pain (often one-sided), plus bonus symptoms like nausea, light sensitivity, and in some cases — visual disturbances called auras.

Headache coming on fast? Try these quick relief tips:
🧊 Cold or warm compress
💧 Drink water
🛏️ Rest in a dark, quiet room
☕ Small dose of caffeine
💆 Massage pressure points
🧘 Deep breathing
💊 OTC meds (as directed)
If your headaches are frequent or severe, Torrance Memorial's neurology team can help you find long-term relief.

👏 Join us in celebrating Jasmine Diaz – our latest TMPN Reason is You Award recipient! 👏
When a young patient was in need of a fresh pair of pants during a visit, Jasmine didn’t hesitate to help. She offered a spare pair she kept at the office, making sure the child felt comfortable, cared for, and at ease. 💙

As Dr. Brucker shared:
“It was such a kind and thoughtful gesture—one that turned a potentially stressful moment into a positive one.”

Jasmine, thank you for your empathy, quick thinking, and commitment to compassionate care. You truly embody what is all about!

Who says retirement has to slow you down?
Meet Tom Brewer—Torrance local for 72 years, former city councilmember, retired clinical microbiologist, and currently a very active volunteer. You’ll find him helping out at the Torrance Certified Farmers’ Market, guiding tours at the Torrance Historical Society, and serving as president of the West Torrance Rotary Club.

But what really keeps him going? A heart-healthy lifestyle inspired by personal loss and a strong desire to give back. After losing his younger brother to a heart attack, Tom changed his diet, stayed active with morning walks and pickleball, and now whips up homemade pasta sauce with fresh farmers market finds, much to his wife’s delight… and occasional frustration. (He never writes down his recipes 😃)
Tom’s story is a heartwarming reminder that community, connection and purpose are the best medicine.

Discover how seniors can stay active, hydrated, and well-rested with advice from Layrisse Landaeta, MD, a geriatric internist with Torrance Memorial Physician Network. From cool meals to safe workouts and better sleep, we’ve got your wellness covered all season long.

“As people get older, it’s easier to get dehydrated because we lose some of our sense of thirst," Dr. Landaeta says. "The symptoms of dehydration (including headache, foggy brain, dizziness) can also be more subtle. Believe it or not, dehydration causes balance issues that can lead to falling.”
