We are proud to announce that Torrance Memorial Medical Center has been awarded The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification. This prestigious recognition reflects our organization’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, high-quality patient care.

The certification was granted following a rigorous onsite review during which a Joint Commission reviewer assessed compliance across a range of standards. These included program management, preoperative care, operating room procedures, post-anesthesia care (PACU), nursing, discharge planning, physical therapy, and patient self-management support.

The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of excellence and a testament to the hard work, dedication, and expertise of our orthopedic team and supporting staff.
Congratulations to the Ortho Team and all staff involved for a job well done and achieving this prestigious certification!

🌟 DAISY Award Winner: Alicia Alcazar, 5N 🌟

We are proud to present the DAISY Award to Alicia Alcazar from 5 North!

Alicia was nominated by a grateful family member who first met her in May 2018 while their loved one was recovering from spinal surgery in TCU. From that first encounter, Alicia stood out for her unwavering dedication to patient wellbeing, her welcoming smile, and her genuinely caring nature.

When the same patient was hospitalized again in April 2025 for 23 days, Alicia’s positive attitude, capable care, and encouraging words made a difficult stay much more manageable—not only for the patient but also for their family. Her compassion, professionalism, and heart for her patients truly make her deserving of this honor.

Thank you, Alicia, for exemplifying the best of nursing care and for making a meaningful difference in the lives of the patients and families you serve every day.

🌟 Relief Without Limits 🌟

Neck and spine pain can stop you from living life to the fullest. For Dr. Tiffany Rogers, helping patients find relief isn’t just a job — it’s personal.

A former All-American basketball player, Dr. Rogers knows what it’s like to battle back from injury. That experience led her first into physical therapy, then to medicine, and ultimately to becoming the South Bay’s leading cervical disc replacement specialist.

Her dual background in physical therapy and surgery gives her patients an extra edge in diagnosis and treatment — and her passion for getting to know each patient makes every success story priceless.

✨ With Cervical Artificial Disc Replacement (C-ADR), patients can:
✔ Relieve neck and arm pain, numbness, and weakness
✔ Preserve natural neck motion
✔ Return to normal activity in 2–4 weeks
✔ Lower the risk of future surgeries

🗣️ “I get to help people of all ages and give them a new chance at a much better life.” – Tiffany Rogers, MD

In Torrance — a city known for its vital industries and refineries — readiness isn’t optional, it’s essential. Yesterday, Torrance Memorial led a regional Decontamination Drill with six South Bay healthcare partners, testing our ability to protect and care for our community in a large-scale chemical emergency.
Funded by the Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP), these coordinated efforts ensure our hospitals stand ready for anything.

Community Spotlight: Lou Giovannetti ✨

Broadway performer turned restaurateur, Lou Giovannetti, came to Southern California for six weeks—and never left. Alongside his wife Grace, a certified sommelier, Lou brings authentic Italian cuisine and a love for community to Primo Italia in Torrance.

From receiving Marchio Q certification for quality and service to donating thousands of meals during COVID-19 to hospitals, first responders, and nonprofits, Lou and Grace prove that running a restaurant can be about more than food—it’s about heart. 💖

Lou also keeps his Broadway roots alive, serenading diners with Sinatra classics and performing at local events, including Torrance Memorial’s Centennial Celebration. “Running a restaurant is like putting on a show every night,” he says—and every meal, every gesture, is part of that performance.

👏 Thank you, Lou and Grace, for feeding the community with creativity, care, and kindness!
