Second Home

As a family, we started Second Home because we experienced the difficulty of searching for senior housing. So, it was time to consider senior housing.

We guide and educate families through the thousands of assisted living, board & care, and Alzheimer's care options in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego county. It was never a topic of discussion in our family because our priority was to keep our loved one at home. As time went on, we realized that the reality of staying home was going to have to change. Unfortunately, we couldn’t keep up with the

financial, emotional, and physical requirements. What we found was that we were in the dark about senior housing:

At 87, Jay’s eyesight is declining due to macular degeneration, a condition that prompts many ElderHelp clients to seek support. Jay was referred to ElderHelp by the Center for the Blind. Although he’s been housebound for a few years, he enjoys the check-in calls and conversations with ElderHelp’s volunteers and staff. 😊😊

His San Diego roots run deep, having moved here as a child in 1946. He reminisces about working at Sea World when it first opened in 1964. “I was washing windows and carrying water buckets. Then I got promoted to working with penguins, dolphins, and eventually killer whales. I had a gift ‘for talk,’ so they asked me to develop a few shows. 😎
