Scientific studies have proven that psycho-social support for cancer patients is a vital form of treatment in fighting the disease. Cancer Support Community South Bay is a chapter of the Cancer Support Community, an international non-profit with over 100 chapters worldwide. Our mission is to uplift and strengthen people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities, and breaking down barriers to care. CSC South Bay provides emotional support, education and hope for people affected by cancer and their loved ones in the South Bay, Long Beach, and Orange County. Our programs are developed from evidence-based psychosocial oncology and groups are facilitated by licensed therapists. Our services include weekly and monthly support groups, 16 cancer-specific groups, bereavement groups, programs geared specifically towards kids and teens, and both individual and family counseling services. Licensed therapists encourage participants to adopt a set of actions, behaviors, and attitudes that will improve the quality of their life and ultimately could increase the possibility of recovery. Accompanying our core programs are monthly educational workshops with experts in the fields of oncology, wellness, nutrition, and more. Participants also have full access to a variety of healthy lifestyle classes focusing on the mind-body connection as well as social events that foster community, positivity, and connection. Again, all of this is offered completely free of charge for ANYONE affected by cancer.

This January, The Alliance for Children of Parents with Cancer (ACPC) is joining Kesem to help bring joy forward, connecting kids with the support, care, and community they need to feel seen and celebrated.

The ACPC is a collective of national cancer support organizations. We work together to support children of parents who have cancer by raising awareness; improving access to programs and resources, and strengthening the network of organizations ready to meet their needs.

More than 5 million children in the U.S. are impacted by a parent’s cancer—and they deserve to experience joy without hesitation.

Today’s Patients Over Paperwork roundtable brought our community together for an honest conversation about how insurance delays and denials affect cancer care.

48 participants. One powerful conversation.

We were grateful to welcome participants both in person and online for a discussion centered on access to care, shared experiences, and patient advocacy.

Thank you to our panelists, attendees, and partners—especially BeOne Medicines—for helping create space for voices that matter and conversations that move us forward.

At CSC South Bay, we believe patients should always come before paperwork.
