Since 2016 and then the Pandemic of 2020, we have been living through rounds of rapid and significant change, global and national to state and local. Society has been evolving and adjusting, reacting and reeling. Interpersonal relationships have as well. For humans of all ages and stages of development, from early childhood through elder adulthood, rules and routines and long established norms have been in upheaval. This course will explore various transference and countertransference reactions as well as approaches to resilience and wellness for patients and clinicians to these political and pandemic initiated changes.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to identify and discuss the emergence of transference/countertransference in relation to recent rapid societal shifts and changes in relationships and long-established norms.
2. Participants will be able to identify 1-2 interventions for identifying and ethically managing their own transference/countertransference, trauma, and fatigue in the context of their professional role of psychologist in relation to the many societal, political, and relational shifts and changes.
3. Participants will be able to describe and discuss a plan for maintaining personal wellness and care that incorporates insight and coping that can yield resilience and growth.
