Eating Disorder Awareness Week đ
Eating disorders affect people of all genders, ethnicities, ages, and body sizes. They donât have a âlook.â And healing isnât about changing a body itâs about changing our relationship to food, care, and worth.
Many people have been harmed by weight-centric systems that focused on weight loss instead of listening to what someone actually needed. A weight-inclusive, Health At Every Size (HAES)-aligned approach reminds us that health is not defined by a number on a chart, and recovery requires respect, nourishment, and trust.
Right now, our culture often sends the opposite message. Media, commercials, medical systems and public messaging can amplify fear of food and bodies, making it harder for people to heal. The truth is: carbohydrates and starches are not the enemy they are foundational fuel. Our brains need glucose to think clearly, regulate emotions, and function. When we arenât eating enough or eating consistently, âfood noise,â anxiety, and stress around food and our bodies can create some challenges that are hard to break free from.
This week (and every week), we can challenge stigma, question harmful narratives, and support nourishment : physically, emotionally, and relationally.
Recovery is possible. And it starts with compassion, not control.
