Every Independence Day, we pause to honor the heroes who gave everything. Some of their names are lost to history – but their bravery is not.
This past July 4th, Home Helpers® Home Care CEO & President Emma Dickison had the extraordinary honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, with proud U.S. Veteran and Home Helpers® Home Care franchisee, David Conolly, who serves the Tri-Cities, VA community.
This moment held deep personal meaning for Emma, whose father bravely served during WWII with the 83rd Army "Thunderbolt" Infantry Division. He came home. So many others did not.
At Home Helpers®, we proudly stand beside our nation’s heroes—Veterans who continue their legacy of service as franchisees and Caregivers, delivering exceptional care in communities across the country. We’re also deeply honored to care for those who once served. Their stories inspire us every day, and we take great pride in Taking Care of the Greatest Generation … Yours.®💙
Today and every day, we remember. We honor. And we give thanks.

Michele Scott joined the U.S. Navy Reserve right after high school and served for eight years, which included a six-month deployment to Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. After returning from active duty, Scott became a physical therapist. While working primarily with the elderly in home health, long-term care and rehabilitation facilities, Scott saw many scenarios of unfulfilled client needs and caregiver burnout. She wanted to make a difference.
When the physical requirements of her own job became increasingly difficult for her, Scott knew she needed an alternative plan. She decided to pursue a business of her own where she could continue to carry out her calling. After speaking with several home healthcare franchises, Scott found Home Helpers to be a company with a strong business background and profitable history, as well as ethics, integrity and a heart for the industry. These attributes were a must for Scott. Although no two days are alike, below is a snapshot of Scott’s busy schedule.
Daily Duties: Scott’s days are anything but scheduled. Daily plans to manage her business can change quickly if a scheduling issue occurs or a new referral call comes in, which then becomes a priority. Billing is monitored daily and can involve disputing insurance payment denials. Scott will also check each client’s bill for errors and make any necessary adjustments before submitting it to the insurance company.
When not fielding urgent calls, Scott reaches out to clients to see how they are doing. She believes in running her business with a personal touch and letting clients know she is there for them.
Weekly Events: Pre-COVID-19, Scott was very involved in the marketing of :her business through community networking events. As these events begin to take place again, Scott will continue to attend meetings to present her educational insight, promote her business, and make follow-up calls to new connections. Payroll for her office staff, one part-time recruiter and one full-time scheduler, along with 42 caregivers, is run weekly. Although each day presents different challenges, Scott enjoys her purpose as a Home Helpers franchisee and wakes up thankful for all she has been given.
