🌟 This Is Us 🌟

When people ask, “Who is behind HeartLight Funeral Services?” the answer is simple. It is us, Rulon and Bay Olsen. We are a husband and wife team who combine family, business, technology, and a whole lot of heart into one shared mission. 💜

Rulon has spent his life building and leading businesses, but at his core he has always been a teacher, mentor, and guide. He has worked with entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, and community leaders, helping them grow and succeed. He has also dedicated himself to service throughout his life. As an Eagle Scout and longtime supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, he has mentored youth and helped shape future leaders. Through Rotary International, he has created projects that change lives both locally and globally, including the Helping Babies Breathe program in Guatemala and events like the Rim-to-Rim Challenge at the Grand Canyon. At HeartLight, that same vision guides everything he does. He believes families deserve compassion, dignity, and peace of mind, not just on the day of the service but for years after.

Bay has a background in many fields including technology, business intelligence, and social science. She has worked on projects ranging from international research studies to financial systems and data analysis for major organizations. She brings all of these experiences together to strengthen HeartLight and to care for families with warmth, detail, and compassion.

Together, we are also the founders of Annie’s Stone, a project inspired by the loss of our granddaughter, Annie Mack Olsen. Through this effort, we provide headstones and memorial support for families who have lost young children, because we believe every life deserves to be remembered. Annie’s Stone is our way of turning grief into light, and love into lasting legacy.

We created HeartLight to feel different from the traditional funeral home. It is not about silence and shadows. It is about comfort, light, and creating spaces where families can truly celebrate the lives of their loved ones.

We are parents. We are grandparents. We are travelers, food lovers, and community builders. We know firsthand what it feels like to lose someone we love. We also know the peace that comes when stories, legacies, and love are remembered.

This is us. We are not perfect and we are not trying to be. We are simply real people with real hearts, walking beside you when you need it most.

✨ Always Remembered. Always With You. Always HeartLight. ✨

🌸 October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Our hearts gently turn to the families who carry the quiet ache of losing a little one too soon.

We also remember our own sweet granddaughter, Annie Mack Olsen. Though her time on earth was brief, her life continues to shine through the “Annie’s Stone Project”, bringing headstones and memorial support to families who deserve to have their child’s life remembered with love.

You can support Annie’s Stone by joining the Virtual Turn on Your HeartLight Life Run. 💜 Everyone who registers through the official race site will receive our special Life Run Medal shipped to your home: https://5kevents.raceentry.com/virtual-turn-on-your-heartlight-life-run/race-information

Donations can also be made through Venmo -Stone.
Each step is an act of love and remembrance. ✨

At HeartLight Funeral Services, we stand firmly against violence in every form. Hate and cruelty only deepen the pain in a world that already knows too much loss. We have walked beside families in moments of peaceful passing and in moments of devastating tragedy, and we have seen the lasting impact it leaves behind.

Because of this, we choose a different way. We choose compassion. We choose kindness. We choose the quiet, steady power of love. Our prayer is for healing where there is hurt, for comfort where there is grief, and for peace to find its way into every home and every heart.

In all that we do, may we rise above hate with love, replace anger with understanding, and answer darkness with light. This is the heart of who we are, and it is the light we will always carry. 💜

My personal reflection.

One of my favorite parts of A Night of Remembrance in Cedar City was that it was just cold enough for us to have the fire pit going. I loved watching how kind everyone was to each other even people who had never met before. They gathered, talked, shared stories, and offered support, even when their own hearts were heavy from the loss of someone they love.

That’s the kind of community I want to be part of. So many people came up to us and said how special the evening felt. But really, it’s because of all of you. You created the atmosphere—calm, reflective, full of love and respect. Together, you made it a beautiful night to honor and remember those we hold dear. 💜

Recognize this water bottle? It was left at the lake this evening. I’ll have it at our office in Cedar City for pickup.

Spring has sprung, but my nose just runs!
It’s allergy season, and I'm feeling it! To help clear those sinuses, we’re sharing a delicious Thai coconut soup (Tom Kha G*i) recipe created by our very own Bay Olsen. This soup is perfect for cold and allergy relief, and if you’re looking for extra help, add some chili peppers to give your nose a speedy assist in clearing up those allergies faster!

Yes, the cellphone outage is affecting many of us, especially in case of emergencies. Here are a few things we can do to stay connected.

If your cellphone is showing “SOS” today, it’s likely due to a massive cellphone network outage. Unfortunately, local cellphone service stores or even your tech-savvy kids might not be able to fix this one.

Here’s what you can do:

“It is very important to stay connected through Wi-Fi until the network is restored”

- Make sure Wi-Fi calling is enabled (you may only reach landlines, as other cellphones might be down).

- Use apps like Messenger, WhatsApp, Skype, Microsoft Teams, or LINE to stay connected your family members or friends.

- For iPhone users, FaceTime will work if both parties are on Wi-Fi.

- For Android users, Google Duo is a great option when both parties are on Wi-Fi.

If you need immediate help from HeartLight, you can still reach us by landline or send message through Instagram and Facebook Messenger. We’re working hard to ensure you’re taken care of during this tech outage.

🌟 We believe every life deserves a unique and personal tribute. That’s why we offer the “complimentary gift” of personalized decals to decorate our funeral coach windows during services. 🌿

The back of our funeral coaches has become a special place for families to take photos and share memories of their loved ones. With custom artwork designed from the stories you share with us, each decal becomes a meaningful reflection of the life it represents. 🎨💖

We’re here to ensure every tribute is as unique and memorable as the loved ones we honor. 💕
