✨Celebrating 50 Years of Westminster Village✨
As we celebrate 50 years of Westminster Village, we take pride in reflecting on the vision, faith, and determination that laid the foundation for our community.
In the late 1960s, there was a growing awareness of the need for high-quality housing and supportive services for older adults. Leaders within the Presbyterian Church felt called to respond. In 1969, Rev. William Williams of Greenwood, Indiana helped establish the Presbyterian Housing Program, Inc., a nonprofit organization created to develop communities where seniors could live with dignity, independence, and a strong sense of belonging.
What began as a bold idea quickly turned into meaningful action. Through strong leadership, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to service, several retirement communities were developed throughout Indiana—including Westminster Village in West Lafayette. These early efforts were rooted in compassion and guided by a belief that aging should be filled with purpose, connection, and opportunity.
The story of Westminster Village is also one of dedicated individuals who believed deeply in its mission. Their passion and perseverance ensured that the community not only came to life, but continued to grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of residents. Their work created a lasting impact that can still be felt across our campus today.
While the original organization that helped bring Westminster Village into existence eventually concluded its work, the vision it inspired continues to thrive. Over the past five decades, Westminster Village has remained committed to providing exceptional care, fostering meaningful relationships, and creating a vibrant environment for those we serve.
As we honor our past, we also look forward with gratitude and excitement. The same spirit that guided our founders continues to shape our future.
Here’s to 50 years of legacy, community, and purpose—and to many more years ahead.
