Statistics show that 1 in 3 people are at risk for kidney disease, with 30 million Americans already having it. Our kidneys play three crucial roles in our body; they regulate water and minerals, remove waste, and produce hormones. They are located on both sides of your lower back and filter 200 liters of blood per day. To protect your kidneys, it's important to control your blood pressure, exercise often, limit processed foods, and reduce over-the-counter medicines. Kidney disease is progressive and can put you at a higher risk for other health conditions.

Our overall health is a combination of diet, exercise, rest, and hereditary traits. Nutrition is one of the biggest factors of our health. What we eat can significantly increase or decrease our risk for disease or injury. Healthy eating makes our bodies stronger and improves our immune system. Some dietary intervention to improve our wellbeing include reducing the number of sugary drinks, eating more of vegetables, eating smaller portion sizes, and choosing more nutritional snacks.
