It's a holistic tool that supports holistic development, helping them understand concepts like measurement, textures, and spatial awareness while building fine motor control (scooping, pouring) and communication skills.

During a regular day at Surfside Academy, children learn a wide range of skills from manipulatives, including crucial early math (counting, patterns, fractions, place value), cognitive abilities (problem-solving, logical thinking, spatial awareness), fine motor skills (hand-eye coordination), creativity, and language, by making abstract concepts tangible through hands-on exploration, bridging the gap between physical actions and mental understanding.

The Conscious Discipline Skill of Encouragement centers on intentionally noticing children’s efforts and positive choices, while the Power of Unity emphasizes our interconnectedness and the belief that we grow stronger when we work together. Together, they foster a School Family in which each person’s unique strengths support the whole community, shifting the focus to compassion, collaboration, and shared success.
Rituals and meaningful shared activities strengthen this sense of connection by creating consistent opportunities for children and adults to notice, appreciate, and engage with one another.
