My patient, Enzo, has fibular hemimelia and has faced his journey with strength and determination. After undergoing ankle reconstruction and completing his second lengthening, he continues to shine with his bright personality (and love for avocados 🥑).

Now a proud big brother, we know Enzo will bring the same positivity and resilience to mentoring his little brother as he grows.

I had a great follow-up visit with my patient Rahal! He has congenital femoral deficiency (CFD) and recently began his lengthening journey with his “magic ladder.”

It’s always wonderful to see patients thriving and approaching treatment with such courage and positivity.

Fixator free and thriving! My patient with fibular hemimelia just completed a 5 cm tibial lengthening, and we’re so proud of his progress.

His strength and resilience inspire us every step of the way!

Jackson has Multiple Hereditary Exostoses (MHE), a rare genetic condition that causes benign bone tumors to develop throughout the body. These growths can lead to pain, limited motion, and bone deformities.

Unhappy with the function and appearance of his forearm, Jackson came to the Paley Institute, where I removed an osteochondroma and corrected the curve in his ulna. The result was a straighter arm with improved function and appearance.

At the Paley Institute, we specialize in the treatment of MHE, using advanced techniques and a whole-body approach to care.

Lilly is a courageous and determined teenager whose journey at the Paley Institute has been nothing short of inspiring.

She first came to us in need of major hip and knee reconstruction, which was a great success. From there, she completed a 4 cm internal lengthening, showing incredible commitment to her therapy and making remarkable progress every step of the way. With one more lengthening planned in the future, Lilly continues to inspire us with her resilience and determination.

We are so proud of you, Lilly. Keep shining bright! 💜

Meet Jake, a longtime patient of the Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute and an inspiration to everyone who meets him.

He has undergone multiple surgeries to address deformities in his arms and legs and is currently undergoing a tibial lengthening to correct a leg length difference. Through every challenge, Jake remains positive, confident, and committed to helping others by sharing his experience with patients and families on similar journeys.

We're so proud to be part of his care and grateful for the heart he brings to the Paley community.

Meet Rahal! He has congenital femoral deficiency (CFD) and is starting his first lengthening journey with his very own “magic ladder.”

Age-appropriate conversations about big treatments like lengthening are so important. Giving kids some control, like naming their device and imagining it as an adventure, can make the process easier, less scary, and even a little fun. It’s a privilege to be part of his journey. He also rocks some great hair!
