Should you panic when they relapse?

I would not use the work "panic" I would take note of it and start to come up with a plan.

Ideally you would already have a plan put into place for if and when they do relapse.

That is going to be your best bet.

Some stories stay with you long after the episode ends.
This is one of them.

In this episode, Ricky opens up about watching his mom drink herself to death—and what that did to him as a child.

Not just emotionally…
But mentally.
Spiritually.
At his core.

This conversation isn’t about shock value.

It’s about understanding.

If you grew up in a home where alcoholism was “normal”…
If you loved someone who went to treatment but never truly healed…
If you’ve ever wondered why addiction impacts families the way it does…

Ricky’s story brings clarity.

Clarity around behaviors.
Clarity around trauma.
Clarity around the long-term impact addiction has on children and families.

And most importantly, this episode offers something many people don’t realize they’re still searching for:

A path to turn unresolved trauma into healing.

Should I try and fix them or should I work on myself first?

There is NO FIXING them, that is not your job. That is their job.

You are better off focusing on yourself.

Should I stay quiet to avoid conflict?

Chances are you have stayed quiet for far to long. It is ok to speak up, just understand that you may not get the outcome that you are hoping for.

Seek wisdom and tlak to professionals first, let them guide you!

Should I allow my addict loved on in my home or meet them in public?

That depends.

Is there is always tension and high stress within the home, then I would meet in public.
If you are able to have a productive conversation inside the home, then it should be fine.

Only you can be the judge of that....

Should I wait until they are sober to talk to them about their addiction?

It never does any good talking to someone when they are under the influence.

Can you, yes.
WIll it accomplish anything? Probabley not.

Do you have a narcissist in your life…
an alcoholic…
or maybe both?

And more importantly — do you know the difference?

This week’s episode is one of the most eye-opening conversations we’ve had on the show. We brought on Maya, a licensed mental health counselor, to break down the real distinctions between narcissistic personality disorder and alcoholism — and why these two patterns can look so similar from the outside.

Here’s the truth most people miss:

Narcissism isn’t “someone who’s a little selfish.”
And alcoholism isn’t “someone who drinks too much.”

Both can trace their roots back to deep, unresolved childhood trauma — but they manifest in totally different ways.

And Maya does not hold back.

She explains:
🔹 Why narcissistic traits show up the way they do
🔹 What alcoholism is actually doing for a person — beyond the destruction it causes
🔹 How these two patterns overlap… and where they absolutely don’t
🔹 What families need to understand if they’re trying to support someone in either category

If you’ve ever wondered What am I actually dealing with? or struggled to make sense of someone’s behavior, this episode is going to bring more clarity than you’ve ever had.

Watch the full episode on Youtube and finally understand the difference.

Should I check their phone to see where they are at? Or should I just let it be?

Checking their phone is only going to drive you crazy! What are you going to do if you see they are at the drug dealers house? Tell them to leave?

It has gone to far if you are at a point of checking their phone...

Should I hide their addiction from others?

NO! Hiding their addiction and pretending that it isn't there is only going to make things worse.

We are past the point of hurting feelings.

Should I accept their promise? Or wait for consistency?

I am sure that you are used to empty promises, so i dont think that anything is going to be different this time around!

Wait for some consistency. There is no reason to believe that things are going to different this time...
