Sora Vigorito, the youngest known Survivor of the n**i physician, Joseph Mengele's, infamous "twin experiments" honored us by coming to tell her remarkable story. It is one of unimaginable horror, but also of perseverance and faith.
She spoke of her early years in hiding in a basement in Dessau, Germany, with her twin sister and grandmother, her time in Auschwitz undergoing brutal medical experiments including spinal injections that left her with long-term health consequences, and led to the death of her twin sister, her liberation in 1944 and eventual emigration to Canada and then to the United States.
We are so grateful to her and her husband, Frank, who she built a wonderful life with in the aftermath of her survival, for sharing with us.
Thank you to Rabbi Gancz and his wife, Chaya, for bringing this life-changing event to our residents and guests. 💙
