Meet Robert Borrego, MD, FACS, our Trauma Agency Physician Advisor.

Dr. Borrego is board-certified in General Surgery, Trauma, and Surgical Critical Care. An army veteran, Dr. Borrego served as the Trauma Medical Director at St. Mary's Medical Center's Level 1 Trauma Center in West Palm Beach for more than 34 years where he remains an active trauma surgeon. Dr. Borrego also serves as a subject matter expert on emerging trauma care practices and mentors trauma education leaders, EMS medical directors, and hospital teams to strengthen trauma care and outreach countywide.

We’re grateful for his leadership as we continue strengthening trauma care for our community.🚑

💜 Our Lakeside Medical Center team showed their support for Epilepsy Awareness Month by wearing purple!

Epilepsy affects more than 3.4 million Americans, including adults and children right here in our community. Let’s continue to spread understanding and compassion for those living with this neurological condition.

🌾 Today is National Rural Health Day — a time to honor the resilience of rural communities and the healthcare professionals who serve them with dedication and heart.

Our teams at Lakeside Medical Center and the Belle Glade Community Health Center work every day to increase access to high-quality health care for families and residents in the Glades.

We set up our mobile clinic at a recent Glades Diabetes Awareness Month event. On board, our medical team provided screenings and offered healthy-living education. This is just one of many community events we support throughout the year.

Shoutout to Dr. Darnel Dabu, Assistant Family Medicine Residency Program Director and physician at our Belle Glade Community Health Center, and to our Family Medicine residents, who provided care at the event and who are dedicated to the health of those in our western, rural communities.

Rural health matters. And so do the people who make it possible. 🤝

Falls are the leading cause of traumatic injuries in Palm Beach County — especially among older adults.

To help prevent these injuries before they happen, we’re proud to launch a new Fall Prevention Clinic in partnership with the Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University.

Through our Falls Clinic, individuals who have experienced a fall or may be at risk can now meet with a board-certified geriatric physician for a one-time visit that includes:

• A physical exam
• A fall-risk assessment
• Guidance and treatment recommendations

The clinic is offered once a month at our Delray Beach Community Health Center, and thanks to grant funding, assessments are free of charge!
