Last year, there were 11 lawn equipment-related traumatic injuries requiring trauma center level care in Palm Beach County.

Before heading outside for yard work, take a few extra moments to think about safety. A few simple precautions can help prevent serious injuries.

From clinical roles to careers behind the scenes, our team shared the many paths available at Lakeside and within the Health Care District’s health and public safety programs. We were honored to take part and provide information with the next generation about the various professions that help us care for all.

💚 Proud to join Palm Beach County Commissioner Joel Flores and our community partners in support of mental health awareness.

On May 21, our team will be wearing green for Palm Beach County’s Get Your Green On initiative — helping raise awareness, encourage conversations and show support for mental health across our community. Mental health matters not just in May, but all year long, and we remain committed to the mental well-being of the patients, families and communities we serve.

This morning, I was proud to sponsor a proclamation recognizing May 2026 as Mental Health Awareness and Trauma-Informed Care Month 💚

The Commission Chambers were filled with supporters all wearing green to reflect the Get Your Green On initiative, which began in 2016 with students at Atlantic Community High School and has since grown into a countywide movement to raise awareness and break the stigma around mental health.

🚗 Building healthier roads forward — together.

On May 6, we hosted our community at Lakeside Medical Center for Roads to Healthy Living in Rural Communities, bringing together partners from Florida Atlantic University, the Diabetes Coalition of Palm Beach County, Empower Healthcare and the American Heart Association.

Presentations focused on education, prevention and real solutions to support healthier lifestyles in rural communities — and how we can build a stronger, healthier future.

🧠 Karen Lynskey-Lake, RN, our ED Assistant Nurse Manager, shared how to recognize the signs of stroke, steps to help prevent it and what to do in an emergency — because knowing the signs and taking action can save lives.

Barbara, an RN at our Delray Beach Community Health Center, recently celebrated 40 years in nursing — and her impact is felt every single day.

As a nurse in our outpatient substance use disorder treatment program, she meets patients with patience, dignity and respect as they navigate their recovery journey. It’s care like hers that helps change lives.
