🚨 Trauma Prevention Tips: January is National Bath Safety Month.

Bathrooms may seem harmless, but they’re one of the most common places for serious falls. In 2024, Palm Beach County reported 75 bathroom-related falls requiring trauma-level care.

🛁 Make your bathroom safer:
✔ Reduce clutter
✔ Use non-slip mats, coatings, or anti-slip stickers
✔ Add grab bars, shower chairs, or bath lifts for extra support

Want more practice spotting hidden fall risks? 🏠⚠️
🎮 Try our Home Safety Challenge in the Prevent Falls PBC app or PreventFallsPBC.org and see if you can identify fall risks throughout the home.

This week, Lakeside Medical Center welcomed over 60 professionals from Leadership Palm Beach County's Focus program for an inside look at how our integrated public safety and healthcare enterprise serves the rural Glades communities. Lakeside Family Medicine Residency Program is the only rural teaching hospital in Florida - building a unique pipeline of physicians equipped with rural health care knowledge.

From Trauma Hawk to a therapy dog demonstration from the PBSO - Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, this year's demonstration was monumental!

Thank you to the 2026 Focus class for spending some of your day with us and learning how we’re expanding access to care in and across Palm Beach County.

📸 Our latest employee art gallery installation features the paintings of Dr. Nyla Naeem, a third-year Family Medicine resident at Lakeside Medical Center, our rural teaching hospital in the Glades. Her gallery pieces were inspired by the human body. Dr. Naeem's fascination with anatomy and physiology emerged in high school, when a personal illness and an advanced art project exploring interconnected themes sparked a deeper appreciation for how the body’s systems work together. That early curiosity became a bridge between creativity and medicine, shaping her path to a career in health care.
