Today we said goodbye to one of our staff who has truly made a lasting impact on our team.

Cristobal Perez, your kindness and positive presence was infectious—they made the workplace better for everyone around you.

More than anything, you’re simply a genuinely good person, and that’s what people will remember most.

You will be deeply missed, and we’re grateful for the time and energy you brought to the organization, especially where our data was involved!

We’ll miss you as a core member of our staff but we look forward to collaborating on some new projects together!!

Please help us wish our Deputy Director of Programs and Data farewell and good luck!!!

HB 991 adds new documentation and verification requirements to Florida’s voter registration system. For Floridians with disabilities, those changes may create new barriers to accessing the voting process.

🐕‍🦺 Service Animals: Your Rights Matter
A service animal is not a pet. It is a trained animal that performs specific tasks for a person with a disability.

There are many misconceptions about service animals. Here’s what you should know:
✔️ Service animals are usually dogs (and sometimes miniature horses)
✔️ They are trained to perform tasks related to a disability
✔️ They do NOT need a vest, certification, or registration
✔️ Emotional support animals are not considered service animals under the ADA

Businesses are allowed to ask only two questions if it is not obvious:
Is the animal required because of a disability?
What task has the animal been trained to perform?

Service animals are allowed in most public places, including stores, restaurants, transportation, and medical offices. Everyone deserves equal access to the community.

CILO is here to provide information, resources, and advocacy support if you experience barriers or have questions about your rights.
