Birch Grove residents and volunteers spent a joyful afternoon crafting decoupage Easter eggs. Instead of decorating eggs in the traditional way using boiled eggs and dye, residents used glue and carefully applied colorful patterns and designs from paper napkins onto crafting eggs to create their own unique masterpieces. It was a fun project that put a smile on our faces as we celebrated springtime and a season of renewal.

Residents on Fox Hill’s Flower Committee put new arrangements out every week. From classic displays like white tulips in keepsake vases to elegant arrangements in the ikebana Japanese style to fanciful fruit displays, their work adds interest and beauty to our community spaces. We’re grateful for their talent, passion, and endless creativity. Their floral displays are truly works of art.

We were delighted to welcome our friends from Hale Reservation / .1918 to Fox Hill Village! They joined us to share the many ways residents can connect with nature—through community programs, outdoor experiences, and the rich history of Hale. For many, it was a meaningful opportunity to reminisce about a place they’ve enjoyed with family and friends over the years. We’re excited to continue growing this partnership and creating more opportunities to engage with our neighbors at Hale in the months ahead 🌿🦊

Social connections are as important for your health as diet and exercise. People with strong social connections tend to enjoy better health and longer lives. Loneliness and isolation, however, increase the risk for serious health problems including heart disease, obesity, and dementia. To strengthen social connections, go for a walk with a neighbor, join a club or group who share your interests, and schedule time each day to talk with family, friends, and neighbors.

Who doesn't love good conversation and good food? At Birch Grove, we love getting together to slow down and catch up. There's always a signature drink, sometimes it's coffee and tea, sometimes it's wine and cheese or maybe even a root beer float! 🦊

Our resident Lucy has been quietly making a big impact for years—one blanket at a time.

What began through a church in Needham has grown into a heartfelt mission, as she now creates and donates security blankets to foster children and families through St. Cecilia’s Parish. These blankets offer comfort, helping children self-soothe during times that can feel uncertain or overwhelming.

One recipient later wrote about her blanket in high school, calling it “one of her most treasured items.” Thank you, Lucy, for sharing your kindness and making such a meaningful difference. 🦊

Fox Hill Village was honored to recently welcome the Baker’s Dozen of Yale University, one of the nation’s oldest and finest a ca****la groups, for a special performance. 🎶 The concert was especially meaningful for our community because resident Catherine Brigham’s grandson is a member of this extraordinarily talented group. Even more special, her other grandson traveled in to watch his cousin perform so he wouldn’t miss the moment.
Our residents were absolutely delighted and thoroughly entertained by the group’s incredible voices and infectious energy. We’re now big fans—joining thousands of others across the country! 🦊🎤

Yesterday, Community Liaison and Assisted Living Sales Manager Kristen Chin went to the State House to advocate for several bills to be passed in MA. Kristen got to hear about cutting-edge advancements in Alzheimer's diagnoses, what it's like to live with Alzheimer's, and what's being done in the MA House and Senate to pass these bills. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, Kristen got to share her personal experiences with representatives and Senate members, alongside 150 other constituents.

Thank you to the 's Association for organizing and coordinating this important work. The whole day was so smooth and fun and allowed us to focus on the important task at hand!

The green thumbs at Birch Grove recently completed a winter gardening project: planting amaryllis bulbs in pots. Residents and volunteers will be keeping a watchful eye on their pots for stalks to emerge and, in a few weeks, colorful flowers. We can’t wait to see which plants grow the tallest and which bulb blooms first.

Fun Fact: Amaryllis can be cultivated to rebloom for years, making them a gift that keeps on giving.

As you get older, your sleeping patterns change. You take longer to fall asleep, you sleep more lightly, and you may wake up several times a night. Yet you still need as much sleep as you did when you were younger — at least seven hours a night — to feel rested and alert the next day. A good night’s sleep also boosts your immune system, reduces cravings that lead to overeating, and lowers your risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, and heart disease. If you’re feeling sleep-deprived, try these tips for a better night’s rest.
