Imagine receiving an anaesthetic from an untrained doctor. Sounds scary, right? ☠

Before 1935, there was no formal diploma in anaesthesia, and GPs often administered anaesthetics without proper training or qualifications.

It was Sir Ivan Magill who first raised the need for a diploma in anaesthetics in 1931. Four years later, after many meetings and proposals, post-graduate training in anaesthesia was iniated and the first exam was held on 8 November 1935, a grand 90 years ago!

✅ Anaphylaxis Treatment

Adrenaline IM (1:1000) – 0.5 mg in thigh, repeat every 5–15 min.

Oxygen high flow.

IV fluids (Normal saline / RL rapid).

Airway support (prepare intubation if needed).

Adjuncts: Antihistamines + Corticosteroids + Salbutamol (if bronchospasm).

Monitor & observe 12–24 hrs (risk of biphasic reaction).

👉 Life-saving = Adrenaline + Airway + Oxygen + IV fluids.

U shtuan edhe dy anesteziologë që e kryen me sukses pjesën e parë të EDAIC (The European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care examination), Dr Ismet Jusufi dhe Dr Flamur Krasniqi.
Falë angazhimit të Shoqatës sonë Kosova u akreditua si qendër për organizimin e EDAIC, andaj sivjet për herë të parë u organizua ky provim dhe i kemi dy fitues.
Falënderim i posaçëm për Sekretaren ekzekutive të ESAIC Prof. dr Else Marie Ringvold për mbikqyrjen e provimit dhe përkrahjen e vazhdueshme.
