Gender Equality Movement - GEM who we are? what we do? projects? mission?

GEM-Gender Equality Movement is Human Right's and LGBTI Community based Movement and non-profit association, started to function in January 2011 for establishing its goals in the field of civil society empowerment: promotion of human rights and civil society strengthening, support of educational and legal reforms, environmental protection and raising awareness about ecology, development of rural areas and support of small entrepreneurship. Everything started with an idea how to improve the informing of the Community and people about whats going on and everything started by Ismail Cakolli, an Independent Journalist and Human Rights Trainer and Activist, Goals of the Movement: - efforts to strengthen the implementation of the laws for LGBTI community; - commitment to be present on events organized by the organizations that represent marginalized groups and gives our ideas; - commitment to strengthening the culture and human rights protection mechanisms; - commitment to strengthening the culture of the minority rights and their protection mechanisms, especially RAE minority and Serb minority; - initiate and support to re socialized the Tr*******al roma people in Fushe Kosovo; - maintaining different activities for the Tr*******als in Kosovo and other marginalized groups, by realizing regularly visits to their habitats and being informed about their needs and to strive to fulfill and to equip the essential list of needs starting from: sanitary, food and other needs that these people are in need. Remember that it is a group of 6-7 Tr*******al persons from different minorities and different regions of Kosovo even by Albania expelled from their homes due to the sexual orientation, whose door was opened by an Roma Tr*******al names Enver who is unemployed and except the cares for those people, for 20 years now he cares for an Albanian invalid gay from Pristina, which was expelled from his home too. -We are very deeply involved on Tr*******al and Transgender issues.

Mostly we operate in Kosovo but we were part of activities in Montenegro, Albania , Macedonia and Serbia.

We never apply for donations or any kind of founding in Kosovo. We believe that to be activist you must not be payed , activism is not related to materialism, of course to realize activities money are necessary but not to over-budget or to work for money, etc.

We work for community and free. That is what makes us different from others and special. we do not realize a lot of projects, this was our choice, but those projects that we realize were excellent.
