📣 Facebook is Removing Public Followers from Locked Profiles!

Facebook has announced that public followers will no longer be supported on locked profiles.

While my private profile was initially public, I later locked it for personal, family, legal and privacy reasons. I intend to keep it that way.

Unfortunately, this means my 700+ public followers on the personal profile will be automatically removed around 27 October 2025.

I have considered switching back to a public profile or enabling Professional Mode, which Facebook says is now required to maintain followers. However, with the short notice and limited time to research the implications before the 27 October 2025 deadline, I’ve decided not to risk compromising privacy, safety or security for both myself and my connections.

Why this matters:
Facebook has provided no way to notify followers of this change. The only alternative would be to accept everyone as a friend - which is not practical or appropriate in this context.

What next:
If you would like to stay connected, please follow me through my other pages or on Substack (link in comments 👇) and related platforms where I continue sharing updates and writings.

Removed Followers:
If you were previously following my personal profile and find that connection has been removed, I trust this post clarifies the reason why.

With warm regards,
-Dianne

🗣️ The manner in which we communicate is significant, as it can either strengthen, damage, or break relationships. 💔

Holding ourselves accountable and taking responsibility for what we say and do is crucial.

🛑 Before articulating words that serve to undermine others, effectively invalidating their perspective or existence, be mindful of the impact.

🔥 Invalidating someone's experience is a form of gaslighting; therefore, it is vital to own what we say and do.

🧱 When someone asserts their boundaries, it is essential to respect their wishes.

Sharing a post from my YouTube Channel:

❤️ Dedicated in memory and reverence to all the little boys and girls — and the women of my generation — who remember this song, and who also remember a father who did not return or who never showed up as a father.

Father’s Day in Australia recently passed, on Sunday, 7 September 2025. While we celebrate the fathers who are present, it’s equally important to acknowledge those left behind by absence — physical, emotional, or both.

Perhaps it’s time to also create space for Daughters’ Day and Sons’ Day — not just as token holidays, but as reminders of our collective responsibility. Recognising these days could help shift a culture of irresponsible or selfish behaviour and instead encourage empathy, compassion, accountability, and parenting as a top value.

Let this be a call to honour the children and to inspire adults to do better.

If today’s post resonates with you, I am expanding on these ideas in my latest Substack post. Where, I will dive deeper into the impact of absent fathers, the importance of recognising daughters and sons equally, and why age is never an excuse for failing to show up for family.

You’ll also find reflection questions and affirmations to help you process your own experiences and break old patterns.

Subscribe to my Substack to receive a notification when the article is published to read the full post and join the ongoing conversation — together, we can change how families heal and grow. In the process, I am positive we can improve the society our kids grow up in, and the work culture they will later set the tone of.

Can empathy taught without accountability cause harm?

I grew up in environments where compassion and understanding for life circumstances, disabilities and behavioural challenges were required — sometimes to my own detriment. Over time, I have witnessed and experienced the hidden consequences: turning down your own light, overburdened with responsibility, subservience and self-effacement, excusing bad behaviour, mischaracterisation, keeping quiet to avoid conflict, limited social circles, and feeling ‘less than’.

Teaching empathy is essential, but without accountability and respect for all individuals, it can produce guilt, obligation, imbalance and abuse.

My guiding principle: Nothing is more important than emotion — does not absolve accountability. Cause and effect always matter, and it must be nurtured with care, responsibility, and balance.

This subject is so important that I’ll be expanding on it in an upcoming book chapter and/or Substack post exploring how empathy, when taught without accountability and respect for all individuals, can have unintended consequences.

Denmark has been secretly training an entire generation of super-empathetic humans and the results are reshaping what childhood could look like everywhere.
For over 30 years, Danish schools have mandated weekly empathy lessons alongside math and science. These aren't feel-good circle times or awkward sharing sessions. Students learn real skills like reading facial expressions, understanding different perspectives, and managing emotional conflicts. The curriculum treats empathy like any other subject that requires practice and development.
The numbers tell an incredible story. Denmark consistently ranks among the world's happiest countries while maintaining the lowest school bullying rates globally. Danish children score highest on international kindness assessments and grow into adults with exceptional emotional intelligence. Violence in schools has dropped dramatically, and mental health outcomes continue improving year after year.
These empathy classes use practical exercises that build genuine connection skills. Kids practice identifying emotions in photographs, role-play difficult social situations, and learn conflict resolution techniques that actually work. Teachers guide discussions about fairness, inclusion, and understanding differences without forcing artificial positivity.
The program recognizes something revolutionary that most education systems ignore. Academic success means nothing if children can't navigate relationships, handle stress, or treat others with basic human decency. Danish educators realized that emotional skills aren't luxuries but essential life tools.
Other countries are starting to take notice. Finland and Norway have implemented similar programs with promising early results. The Danish model proves that raising compassionate humans isn't wishful thinking but achievable policy when societies decide emotional education matters as much as test scores.

Great comebacks 😂. Seriously though, watch this short reel if you need help articulating your feelings or understanding why/how your concerns are dismissed or someone shifts the blame.
