Statistics show that there are over 45% of the world population adults who are single meaning that the population of those married is slightly above half of the world population. Unfortunately, those who are married the majority are either separated, in the process of divorcing or are just not happily married.
Evidently there are more divorce cases than weddings, just here in Zambia the year 2021 recorded over 22,000 marriages legally dissolved by the high courts minus those traditionally dissolved. The number increased by 9000 in the year 2022 ( to 31,000).

Unfortunately divorce doesn't just affect the lovers or ex lovers only but more so the family especially children and dependants.
In response to this crisis, PsychCare Counselling Network in conjunction with Harbour Counseling & Consulting Inc has embarked on *free webinars* in the area of Marriage and Family and also *fee paying* training in Practical skills in Marriage and Family Therapy to mitigate the eminent challenge both proactively and decisively.

The free Webinars begin this week Thursday via Zoom at 19 hours Central and Southern African Time and 8 PM East African Time.

Whether married or single, come! Whether you plan to marry or not, come as long as you have a family or plan to have one.

On behalf of PSYCHCARE COUNSELING NETWORK, we are thrilled to celebrate World Mental Health Day 2023, taking into account the unique context of Zambia as a third-world country. The theme for this year's event, "Mental health is a universal human right," resonates profoundly with our commitment to ensuring that every individual in Zambia has access to the highest quality mental health care and support, regardless of age, socioeconomic class, or background.

In a country like Zambia, where resources for mental health care can be limited, it is essential to recognize mental health as a fundamental right that should be accessible to all. This includes providing support and services that are culturally relevant, affordable, and geographically accessible.

PSYCHCARE COUNSELING NETWORK is dedicated to promoting and advocating for mental health as a universal human right in Zambia. We believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to lead a mentally healthy and fulfilling life, free from stigma and discrimination.

On this World Mental Health Day, let us join hands and work towards creating a society in Zambia where mental health care and support is readily available to all. Together, we can break down barriers and ensure that mental health is truly recognized as a universal human right.

Remember, at PSYCHCARE COUNSELING NETWORK, we are here to support you on your mental health journey. Let's celebrate this World Mental Health Day by striving towards a brighter future for mental health in Zambia.

Dear esteemed teachers,
Today, as we celebrate Teacher's Day, it's important to recognize the significant role you play in mental health care. Beyond delivering lessons and imparting knowledge, you serve as pillars of support, empathy, and understanding for your students. Your classrooms are safe spaces where young minds find solace, encouragement, and guidance.

You possess the ability to recognize the signs of distress, offer a listening ear, and provide a comforting presence to those in need. Your words of encouragement, kindness, and belief in our abilities have the power to transform lives. You instill confidence, resilience, and the invaluable skills needed to navigate the challenges that arise in our journey.

We appreciate your unwavering commitment to our overall well-being. Your dedication goes beyond academics as you nurture our mental health and encourage us to develop healthy coping mechanisms. Your compassion creates an environment where everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.

On this special day, we express our deepest gratitude for your tireless efforts and the positive impact you have on our lives. You are more than teachers; you are mentors, confidantes, and advocates for our mental health. Happy Teacher's Day!

Su***de Prevention: Saving Lives and Promoting Hope

By Mwiinga. M. Maluza

Su***de is a delicate and distressing topic that affects millions of individuals worldwide. It is a tragic loss for families, friends, and communities. Each year, countless lives are lost, leaving behind heartbroken loved ones trying to make sense of the unimaginable. Su***de is a complex issue, influenced by a myriad of factors, including mental health conditions, social isolation, and other environmental stressors. However, it is a preventable tragedy, and by understanding the risk factors and implementing effective prevention strategies, we can save lives and promote hope.

To address su***de prevention adequately, it is crucial to recognize the signs and risk factors associated with suicidal ideation. Mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, are often significant contributors. These conditions can lead individuals to feel overwhelmed, hopeless, and unable to cope with their emotions. Substance abuse also plays a role, as it further exacerbates mental health challenges and impairs judgment. Additionally, experiences of trauma, abuse, or loss may increase vulnerability to suicidal thoughts.

Social isolation and lack of support can further amplify the risk of su***de. Humans are inherently social beings, and the absence of meaningful connections can make individuals feel isolated and alone. This sense of isolation can lead to a decline in mental wellbeing, making it crucial to foster a sense of community and support for those who may be struggling. By creating safe spaces for open dialogue, encouraging empathy, and providing opportunities for social interactions, we can effectively combat social isolation.

Addressing su***de prevention requires a multifaceted approach that encompasses both individual and societal interventions. On an individual level, mental health education and early intervention are crucial. Gaining knowledge about warning signs and risk factors equips individuals to identify those in need, allowing for timely referrals and support. Educating healthcare professionals, teachers, and community leaders to recognize the signs of distress can make a significant difference in su***de prevention.

Moreover, destigmatizing conversations about mental health will encourage individuals to seek help sooner rather than suffer in silence. People need to understand that mental illness is not a personal weakness or a character flaw, but rather a treatable condition deserving of compassion and support. By promoting mental health awareness campaigns and normalizing seeking professional help, we can reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, ultimately saving lives.

In addition to individual approaches, systemic changes are necessary to create an environment conducive to su***de prevention. Adequate access to mental healthcare services, particularly in underserved communities, is vital. Building a robust mental health infrastructure, expanding mental health insurance coverage, and training more mental health professionals will help ensure individuals can access timely and appropriate care.

Lastly, collaboration across sectors is crucial. Su***de prevention requires efforts from government agencies, healthcare systems, educational institutions, and community organizations. By joining forces, these entities can develop comprehensive prevention strategies, share resources, and coordinate care for individuals at risk. This collaborative approach ensures a consistent and united effort to save lives and promote hope for a brighter future.

In conclusion, su***de prevention is an urgent and essential public health issue. By understanding the risk factors, recognizing the warning signs, and implementing evidence-based prevention strategies, we can save lives. Su***de prevention requires a comprehensive approach that spans individual efforts, such as early intervention and mental health education, as well as systemic changes to reduce stigma and enhance access to care. By working together, we can create a society that values mental health, supports those in need, and fosters hope for a brighter future. Remember, it is never too late to reach out, listen, and offer a helping hand.
