The thing I love about “Parallel Breathing” is that it has totally helped me connect to my body. I don’t think I’ve ever really known how, or given myself a chance to stay with the breath, connect with the body.
For me, I think, parallel breathing works, because it is very conscious…..it involves my brain and my body at the same time……both are equally involved …….my brain becomes aware of a “stressor” in my body….whether I am driving, dealing with a challenging situation, item or person, feeling dismissed, anxious, angry….whatever is there…,and I can immediately connect with a calming, loving energy to breathe in….so there’s connection, identification and conscious action. This works for me…..I’m sharing this because maybe it would work for you.
With other breathing techniques, I would get bored or actually forget what I was doing and hold my breath, tense up or lose count or start thinking of something else, totally go off task or give up after a few days. With this technique I don’t…..there are no real rules, no counting…..just breathe in patience and breathe out frustration while drivng in Saskatoon! Breathe in calm when my stupid phone won’t work and breathe out anger.
Discussing why I get frustrated or anxious or stressed is part of the “talking” part of my councillor appointments.…. having this breathing technique to use in the real world between appointments and to help in everyday life has really changed things for me. Consider re-reading my first post and try…..breathe in calm…..breathe out worry. Breathe in love…..breathe out impatience. Namaste my friends ❤️❤️❤️ and thanks so much for your comments.
