There was an article in the news paper today that Carl Zeiss is investing 250 million euros in India to build their largest Vision factory.
This is significant news for the entire country of India !

Reasons include:

1. This investment by Carl Zeiss reaffirms India's strategic relevance as an emerging manufacturing hub. Also, this action by them will bolster the confidence of other multinational corporations considering India as an investment destination.

2) In addition to the 2.5 lakh lenses per day manufacturing target for this new plant, they intend to develop metrology solutions locally too. These have applications in Aerospace, Car Body Construction, Electric Vehicle Components, Medical Plastics, and a variety of other industries. (Because these Zeiss solutions are used by other prominent organisations in India, we may anticipate knowledge osmosis, which can stimulate local innovations and eventually other Indian start-ups.)

3. Carl Zeiss CEO previously stated that the company recognises India's strong technical capability and has begun looking out for investment opportunities in Indian start-ups through their "Zeiss Ventures" VC arm. When that happens, then the Zeiss investment and expertise sharing will undoubtedly benefit the Indian start-up ecosystem.
