The reasons women seek abortion are complex and interrelated, but access to care shouldn’t be.

A multi-year UCSF research project sheds light on how access to – or denying– an abortion affects a person's mental health and economic well-being.

Researchers found that receiving an abortion does not harm the health and well-being of women.

Alternatively, being denied an abortion often leads to adverse financial, health, and family outcomes.

Women were:
> 3x more likely to be unemployed
> 4x more likely to live below the poverty line
> More likely to remain in contact with violent partners

As for those who received an abortion, 95% said they made the right decision.
