We are pleased to announce the official reopening of our office on June 1st for in-office appointments. To ensure the safety and health of all patients and staff, our office is following guidelines from public health authorities including the CDC and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Please note the following changes as part of our COVID-19 protocol:

General Office Visit Procedure

1. Pre-screening for symptoms of COVID-19 when making and confirming your appointment. Reminder that masks will be REQUIRED for entry into the building.

2. Parking lot check in via cell phone from your car.

3. Upon entry into the building, temperature screening with a non contact thermometer and hand hygiene with provided sanitizer.

4. Expedited testing and examination process to maximize efficient use of time during your visit.

5. Expedited check out.

6. Follow up appointments will be made over the telephone to limit face to face conversation and time in the building.

Patient Safety Measures

1. Masks are REQUIRED for entry into the building. You are kindly asked to provide your own masks. Homemade coverings such as scarfs and bandanas are acceptable if you are not (or suspected to be) COVID-19 positive. Office staff and physicians will be wearing masks for all patient encounters as well.

2. The appointment schedule will be managed to limit the number of people in the waiting room and common areas in the office. In addition, only the patient is allowed into the office. For children and adult patients requiring a caregiver, one adult may accompany the patient.

3. Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the office.

4. Waiting room furniture has been rearranged to allow for proper social distancing.

5. Enhanced exam room, equipment and surface cleaning and sanitizing procedure after each patient contact.

6. Continued deep cleaning of the entire office on a regular basis.

Staff Safety Measures

1. All staff will be screened on a daily basis when arriving at work for fever or other symptoms of COVID-19.

2. Physicians and staff will be provided appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including masks and gloves for all patient encounters.

3. Plexiglass partitions have been installed at check-in / check-out stations to protect both patients and staff.

Virtual Appointments Remain Available

For any patient concerned about coming into the office, we will continue to offer virtual appointments as an option. During such a visit, the doctor will be able to assess your symptoms and determine an appropriate treatment plan, which may sometimes include a follow up appointment in the office.

- Preferred Date & Time for appointment
- Brief statement of eye problem

We are confident the above measures will protect the the safety and health of our patients, staff and community while allowing us to continue providing the quality eye care you expect from our office. UPDATE

At this time, the Spinak Medical Eye Center offices in both Pearl River and Stony Point remain closed with the exception of urgent and emergency visits. This is as per guidelines established by the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as to help contribute to the reduction of transmission in any way possible. While it is not possible to provide in-office care for your eyes and vision at the present time, we do want to let all patients know that the doctors are available for telemedicine, or “virtual”, appointments over video or audio only conferencing.

Update for this week:

Spinak Medical Eye Center is still limiting services to emergency visits only. All other appointments, procedures and testing currently scheduled remain postponed and we are hopeful to reschedule as soon as the current health crisis allows.

Please know that the doctors are available for questions and teleconference appointments including video conferencing if needed. When calling the office, please explain your questions and concerns to the answering service, who will then contact the doctor. Also, please feel free to share this information with any of our patients who you know but may not be on Facebook. Thank you.

Effective immediately, Spinak Medical Eye Center will be limiting services to EMERGENCY VISITS ONLY. All other appointments, procedures and testing currently scheduled are postponed and will be rescheduled as soon as possible as the current health crisis allows.

To be clear, there has not been any known exposure to COVID-19 in our office, patients or staff members. However, in light of the current rapidly accelerating health crisis, we feel it necessary at this critical juncture to safeguard the health of our patients, staff and all family and friends they could come into contact with by taking the strongest measures to increase social distancing NOW. Please be reassured that the doctors will be available to continue to provide medical care; over the telephone or video chat if possible, but if necessary, with a face to face evaluation in the office with proper precautions.

As we all face an unprecedented health threat to our nation, we ask that you please be understanding and patient as we navigate how best to continue taking care of you at this time.
