Robert the Robot & Beverly the Bot Together!🥰

Robert the Robot, and Beverly the Bot are both 7-axis robot arms. They carve TLSO, AFO, KAFO, TF, and TT positive molds that started as a 3D scan. We are able to use the shapes to manufacture devices for the people that need them!

This! This amazing 🤩 multi-articulating, myoelectric, TASKA CX hand worked perfectly for this individual who was looking for a smaller size to match their sound side. All the digits are capacitive and can be used on any touch screen, it has a fully waterproof design that works past the wrist to allow for hand or dish washing, is impact resistant, and has a resettable knuckle release which is super helpful when a digits get thrown off track! Really cool features as well as a natural anatomical design make this hand a perfect fit!

It turned out quite lovely! 🫶 Fabricated in-house by Graham (remember him!?) so we had more detailed control of the design and production.

Look at these fancy SMO (Supra-Malleolar Orthosis)style AFO! 👀These are not made in-house, but are very cool 3D printed devices that were ordered for a Winkley patient. Compared to a standard copolymer these are said to be more breathable, lightweight and more streamlined to fit into shoes easier.

Happy Wednesday! This one was complex! A farmer’s working arm for an elbow disarticulation amputation with body powered elbow, myoelectric BeBionic hand using an auxiliary locking liner suspension in addition to a saddle harness for heavier loads.

Calling all Minnesota Residents! 🗣

Tell Your Minnesota Legislators to Support HF 3339 and SF 3351
ALERT: HF 3339 and SF 3351 will be heard in the House and Senate Commerce Committees in March.

This link will take you to an easy form to automatically send a message to each committee member showing your support!

Right now, over 35,000 Minnesotans living with limb loss, and thousands more living with limb difference and mobility impairments, are unable to access some of their prescribed orthotic and prosthetic care due to a lack of insurance coverage, forcing adults, children, and families to incur prohibitive out-of-pocket costs (ranging from $5,000-$50,000 per device).

HF 3339 (written by Reps. Koegel, Stephenson, Daniels, Edelson and Hassan) and SF 3351 (written by Sens. Hoffman, Abeler, Klein, Morrison and Housley) seek to address this pressing policy challenge by requiring that health plans in the state:

- Cover O&P at a level at least equivalent to that provided by Medicare
- Cover activity-specific devices for enrollees of all ages
- Cover showering/bathing devices for enrollees of all ages
- Exempt O&P from Reasonable Useful Lifetime restrictions with proper documentation
- Follow nondiscrimination standards related to the coverage of O&P care

Please take a few minutes to fill out this form to automatically email your Minnesota legislators to tell them you support HF 3339 and SF 3351. The more we make our voices heard, the more likely we are to create lasting, positive change in O&P. 👏🦾🦿🗣

Last week we celebrated Chuck's 25th Anniversary with Winkley! Another big one! He started in 1999 here at Winkley as an orthotic technician, while bringing 13 years of prior experience with him as well. We were lucky then to find such a skilled technician and now to be celebrating his 25th Winkley Anniversary! A lot has changed in those 25 years and Winkley truly appreciates all of time and effort it has taken to get to this point and celebrate this with you! Cheers, Chuck! 🥂

It is very hard to say goodbye, so instead we celebrate your accomplishment, Mike! We all wish you a wonderful retirement as it is well-deserved for all your hard work as a technician and a peer for many of our patients! Winkley is so lucky to have had your dedicated skills and knowledge for all these 18 years. Everyone will miss your energy, humor and congeniality every day. While we know this isn’t goodbye forever, Winkley will never quite be the same without you.
