As we age, weight loss can become more challenging due to slower metabolism and hormonal changes. But don’t worry—healthy habits can make all the difference!

1. Be mindful of portion sizes. Eating too much, even of healthy foods, can lead to weight gain. Using smaller plates or measuring portions can help you control your intake.

2. Choose nutrient-dense whole foods like fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. Avoid highly processed foods that are high in sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats.

3. Incorporating low-impact exercises like walking, swimming, or yoga can boost your metabolism and keep you active.

4. Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week.

By adding these habits, you can maintain a healthy weight and stay active as you age. For more tips on healthy aging, check out our blog: https://www.torrancememorial.org/healthy-living/blog/how-aging-and-weight-gain-are-related/

Did you know almost half of women over 40 have dense breast tissue? Why is it important to know if you are one of them? Dense breasts can make mammograms harder to read.

If you’ve been told you have dense breasts, ask your doctor if you need 3D mammography, the most detailed type of mammogram available.

Available to all women at Torrance Memorial, this advanced option may be right for you if you have:
🎀Dense breast tissue
🎀Family history of breast cancer
🎀Had previous breast biopsies

3D mammograms create detailed images showing breast tissue layer by layer, which means it can:
🔵Detect breast cancer at the earliest possible stage
🔵Reduce false positives that could lead to unneeded biopsies

When scheduling your mammogram, tell us if you’d like your exam to use 3D technology.

Our Breast Diagnostic Centers have offered 3D mammography in Torrance, Manhattan Beach, and Rolling Hills Estates longer than any other facility in the South Bay.

👻🎃 Trick-or-treating is all fun and games until someone gets hurt! Stay safe this Halloween with these simple tips:
1️⃣ Use reflective tape on costumes to make sure your little ghouls are seen in the dark.
2️⃣ Choose costumes that are the right length to prevent tripping.
3️⃣ Stick to well-lit areas and always cross the street at corners.
4️⃣ Inspect all treats before eating—skip anything unwrapped or suspicious.
Have a spooktacular and SAFE Halloween!

🚗Safety Tips for Motorists:
1️⃣Watch for children walking on roadways, medians, and curbs
2️⃣Enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully
3️⃣At twilight and later in the evening, watch for children in dark clothing
4️⃣Discourage new, inexperienced drivers from driving on Halloween

😷Masks are still a good idea for both candy-givers and trick-or-treaters and can help protect children and their parents and grandparents from being affected by COVID-19 or other respiratory illnesses.
