Community Living Hamilton Community Living Hamilton is a not-for-profit organization and registered charity that offers a full range of services to people with special needs.

We are one of the largest not-for-profits in Hamilton; each year we provide service to approximately 1,000 children, teens, adults and families. Over 60 years ago, Community Living Hamilton was founded by a group of mothers who came together in a church basement to discuss how they could support each other and their sons and daughters with special needs. Since then, we have continued to establish programs and services that have enabled our clients to fully participate and contribute to their community. We continue to promote full inclusion through person-directed planning; which promotes independence, personal choice and assisting our clients lead the lives they want. Whether it's living independently or in a group setting, working in a supported environment or participating in community activities, we are here to help people realize their full potential and dreams.

After 26 years side by side, D’Arcy and Karen are finally living the dream—together in their very own shared home at Acorn. What started as a friendship at a CLH group home has blossomed into a lifelong partnership full of love, laughter, and Tim Horton’s dates.

Thanks to Community Living Hamilton and the new Acorn living space, they now enjoy a cozy apartment made just for two. Their story is a beautiful reminder that love knows no bounds—and everyone deserves the chance to share a home with the one they love.

Roman began his journey with CLH at Charlton’s Children’s Summer Camp in 2024, where he thrived. That positive experience led his family to enroll him in the weekend respite program, where he continues to grow, connect, and build confidence.

He started out shy, but with time and support, Roman found his courage - trying new activities and even tackling a waterslide twenty times in one afternoon! 💦

For his family, Charlton offers more than care. It provides peace of mind and the space to rest, recharge, and celebrate Roman’s progress.
