How often do you look at the ingredient list and wonder -what the heck is that !?

We live in a world where chemicals are replacing whole ingredients and you can bet that your body is having just as hard of a time trying to sort it all out.

The healthiest choices are the ones where you can properly read and understand all of the ingredients.

Chive flowe vinegar 🌸

Want to add a zing to your salad this summer?

Pick the tops off pf your chives (being careful to leave some for the bees as well as some which will go to seed and grow new chives for you)

I like to leave about an inch of the actual chive on there as well as it will add bit more zing to your vinegar. You'll want enough flowers that fill whatever size mason jar you are using with 3/4 flowers.

Rinse the flowers 2 or 3 times in a large bowl. On the last rinse leave them in the water for at least an hour. There could be tiny little insects in there that you'll want to be sure are left behind.

You could put the flowers in a salad spinner but it will damage them a bit. So if you have the time leave them on paper towel over night. You want to leave them for long enough so no water gets mixed in (weakening your vinegar)

After 2 or 3 days you'll have a pretty colour. I will leave this for.1-2 weeks or until your green chive stems look yellow and the flowers are drained of their hue.

Preparing for the winter cold and flu season already ...

The great Mullein is both an expectorant (allows you to bring up mucus sitting on your chest or in your throat) and is also a demulcent (creates a soothing coating that reduces inflammation over your mucus membranes).

Mullein is a mucilage herb, which means it excreets a soothing emiollage which is great for use in first aid salves and oil extractions for your skin

Making this wonderful plant an excellent use in both tinctures and teas (for lungs/ chest and coughs) as well as a fabulous salve (oil infusion combined with beeswax) for treatment of irritating skin conditions like itching, eczema and burns. The astringent properties of the herb make it great for shrinking hemorrhoids and healing wounds.

This beauty can be found in meadows and pastures in all Southern areas of all Canadian provinces (preferring dry sandy soil). It can also be found in every US state, including Hawaii and Alaska!

For those looking to cultivate it- keep in mind that it is a very invasive perennial. In it's first year you will only yield leaf growth. It's second year will have it flowering. Keep in mind that one flower stalk can have up to 175,000 seeds and those seeds can be viable for 35-100 years. So if you are not finding them in the wild, make sure to plant them with intention as they will quickly take over smaller gardens and open spaces.

Reminder :You don't need to carry the world.

Are you the person who is the helper? The caregiver who takes care of everyone else around you ?

You worry and you stress and take on extra things because you feel like you can carry some of this for others, maybe thinking that if you do it then they won't have to?

Help them directly when you can, but otherwise you need to put that mountain down so it leaves you with further room to grow yourself .

You can't help others when you are exhausted and depleted.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Let go.

If you don't want to go, just say no.

The world will not end of you decline an invitation.

What it will do is save you from the stress and anger of feeling like you have to do something that you don't want to do .

We feel so overtaken by the need to take care of others and to impress that we often fail at making our own needs a priority.

So go ahead and read that book or go on the hike you wanted before friends asked you to go to a movie you don't care about seeing.

Give yourself the time and space to look within and to care for your own needs and it will make you all that much better when you show up for others later ♥️

Did you know that 80% of your brain is water !?

Ideally we should all be taking in our 91 ounces (2.6 ish liters) of water a day.

One of the best ways to combat the blah of simple h20 is by adding lemon, lime or fruit for a tasty infusion.

Lemon water (hot) in the morning helps to get your digestive tract going . The citrus flavonoids aid your stomach acid in breaking down food.

It's full of antioxidant rich vitamin c, which is not only get for your immune system but also supports healthy organs and the detoxification of those organs.

Studies have found that the polyphenol antioxidants present can offset the negative effects on blood glucose levels and could help improve insulin resistance.

Overall hydration increases your livers ability to deal with its toxic load. It helps alongside those citrus flavonoids to protect against toxins and allows it to work on high speed so to speak to flush out the gunk!

There is something to be said about courage ...

All too often we go back and forth in an endless battle of possibilities.

Many of which scare the crap out of ourselves.

People like to feel stable and that no matter which direction they choose they will be right, or feel safe.

Give it an extra moment and ask yourself, what will really happen to you of you make the wrong decision?

The reality is that nothing will really happen. You will just be in a new set of situations that you need to evaluate, make decisions on and push forward through.

It all comes down to how we frame these situations and the power we allow them to have over us.

So what are you waiting for?

Go ahead. Jump.
