The United Nations Interagency Task Force (UNIATF) on the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases coordinates the activities of relevant UN organizations and other inter-governmental organizations to support governments to meet high-level commitments to respond to NCD epidemics worldwide. The commitments were made by Heads of State and Government in the 2011 Political Declaration on NCD

A major step forward in road safety in the (GCC) region.

In a significant move towards enhancing road safety in the GCC region, the UN Interagency Task Force on NCDs, the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP and the UN Road Safety Fund joined forces with the Gulf Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, the Gulf Health Council and the six GCC countries 🇸🇦 🇶🇦 🇧🇭🇰🇼 🇴🇲 🇦🇪 to review the current state of , the impact of road traffic crashes, and ways to reduce their number and impact in the region.

📣 We are pleased to announce the UN Fund as a new member of the UN Interagency Task Force on NCDs.

Globally, road accidents 🛻🚲🏍 cause 1.3 million preventable and 50 million each year. Unsafe roads have significant economic, social and health in low- and middle-income countries, where over 90% of road deaths take place.

The UN Road Safety Fund – launched in 2018 by the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for – guides government action towards achieving SDG 3.6: halving deaths on the road.

📢 The Interagency Task Force on NCDs was established by the UN Secretary-General in 2013 and placed under the leadership of the World Health Organization (WHO).
