According to Chinese Medical theory, the body has 12 meridians through which energy or Qi flows. Excess, deficient or obstructed Qi causes pain and dysfunction of the body’s normal abilities. The meridians can be influenced by needling acupuncture points. Acupuncture unblocks the obstruction and reestablishes the regular flow of qi through the meridians. The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture, results in stimulating the body’s natural healing abilities promoting physical and emotional well-being.

Fall got you feeling under the weather? Try using this adaptogenic tea to reduce physiological stress and Increase immunity.
☕️☕️
An adaptogen is an herb that helps support the body's natural ability to heal. They “adapt” their function according to the specific needs of the body. This may be physical, chemical or biological needs.
☕️☕️
Tulsi or "Holy Basil" is grown throughout India, and is part of the mint family (shout out to the mother land 😎).
☕️☕️
Tulsi contains hundreds of beneficial compounds known as phytochemicals. Phytochemicals are active compounds found in plants containing protective and health promoting properties. It also has antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.
☕️☕️
Manuka honey is native to New Zealand and has a ton of benefits but for purposes of this adaptogenic tea has antiviral and antibacterial properties to help heal the body at at a faster rate. Make sure when you add honey to the tea it is not scalding hot. The extreme heat will denature all of the feel good properties you need to heal.
☕️☕️
It’s time for Lime to shine! Nothing against lemon but lime has more vitamin C than lemon, boosts immune function, detoxifies and balances the body’s pH.
☕️☕️
Drink it daily or when you need a little soothing comfort when you’re under the weather!

✨When I used to think of a healer, I envisioned a majestic, yogi like figure who was always calm, wore white on a daily basis, ate a vegetarian diet, and spoke softly as wind chimes swayed in the background.
✨I thought this is what others also expected of a healer as well, and often had an internal battle with who I was and who I thought I should be.
✨I like a stiff cocktail, love a good party, wear high heels and get dolled up. I swear, listen to gangster rap, eat meat and can lose my cool when someone rubs me the wrong way.
✨On the other hand, I meditate, practice yoga, am mindful of my diet, engage in spiritual retreats and generally try to be a nice person.
✨When providing a healing space, I would often hold back messages coming from spirit at the risk of patients thinking I was weird. I would refrain from revealing things about myself in relatable situations because I didn't think it was who they wanted their healer to be.
✨Well guess what, I am weird, I have nothing to lose when spirit speaks through me and self discloser is what connects us as humans.
✨As I've grown wiser, and have stepped into my own, I've recognized that I am a diamond with many facets. Each facet has its own place and purpose.
✨People want someone they can connect with on an energetic level who can provide a space for them to be vulnerable, open up, laugh, cry and become in touch with their body, mind and spirit.
✨A healer can look like a bum off the street, Ghandi or a Victoria's Secret model. Depending on what day you catch me, I can look like any one of these!
✨Now that I understand the importance of self acceptance and individualized power, I create space and energy for others to step into their own greatness. My hope is that through each personal connection people become aware of their self limiting beliefs, take control their heath and the things they want to change in their lives.
✨We laugh, we cry, sometimes we swear and it is exactly what‘s needed for the healing to happen.
✨I've stopped putting expectations on myself because at the end of the day people just need a little love.
✨And yes, this is a one of the many facets of what your healer looks like 😎

The month of November I decided to set up an extreme self care regimen. With Mercury Retrograde upon us, it‘s great time to reflect, regenerate, reconnect, repair and use the planetary alignment in our favor.
🍁
I‘ll eat foods and drink fresh juices that make my body feel alive.
🍁
I‘ll allow healers to nurture me so I experience the love I give others.
🍁
I’ll move my body, play, tumble and fall numerous times to remember the freedom of childhood.
🍁
I’ll allow my eyes to flood with tears to let go of heartaches past.
🍁
I’ll sleep and nap and sleep some more to recharge and reserve precious energy that has been lost or taken.
🍁
I’ll meet with friends engage in stimulating conversation and let creativity lead the way.
🍁
I’ll be more responsive and less reactive, maintain my integrity and speak my truth.
🍁
I’ll say no and turn down meetings, appointments or events that don’t align with my higher purpose.
🍁
I’ll sit in silence and give my mind space and time to wander eventually letting it become still with peace.
🍁
I’ll read books that stimulate my intellect or that allow me to travel through space and time.
🍁
I’ll give more hugs and embrace others because we all yearn for love and connection.
🍁
I’ll be kind to myself if I don’t meet my expectations because loving kindness is what I deserve.
🍁
I invite you to engage in an extreme self care regimen also. Do whatever serves you best.
🍁
This time of year can weigh heavy on our hearts. Like the nature of the seasons we should shed what is no longer serving us and look inward for the answers 🧡💛💚

My back has been in spasm for the past week (pretty sure it was the wind I warned everyone else about last week lol.) Today was the first day I was able to step foot in a Vinyasa class.
🧘🏽‍♀️
The music was great, the infinity flow was fun, I wanted to slither into poses, feel strong and let go of all of my physical and emotional tension. The problem was I couldn’t. Lifting my arms over my head felt like fire!
🧘🏽‍♀️
I slowed down, wobbled in balance poses, got pi**ed at the wind for POTENTIALLY causing this pain and angry at myself for allowing whatever it was to enter my body (ego said I should be stronger than any external invasion!)
🧘🏽‍♀️
I still moved. I pushed my ego aside over and over again, hearing the faint whispers telling my spirit to push harder even though it didn’t feel right in my body.
🧘🏽‍♀️
Today listened to my spirit and met myself on my mat exactly where I needed to be.
🧘🏽‍♀️
I’m happy I showed up, and even happier I didn’t let my ego get the best of me.

I had a patient show up minutes before the power went out in my home office (thank you raging wind storm!) The patient asked “Do you want me to come back tomorrow?” I said, “Don’t worry about it, I generate my own power...” I thought about it later and that ladies and gentlemen might be the dopest response from an energy healer in the given circumstance lol 😎 PECO ain’t got nothin’ on me!

You know those moments where you want to get up and say f*ck this!? Where the inner agitation becomes unbearable and you want jump out of your skin? Where the spiritual misalignment becomes so loud that you are forced to come face to face with it? What amazing moments these are! Seriously though...
This is the universe presenting you with cosmic gifts to align you with your higher self.
It is an opportunity for change, a moment for you to REFLECT and RECONNECT with self. It is a chance to become aware of the vibrations that feel amazing, disconnect from the ones that make you feel like s**t, and most importantly understand why circumstances, people and certain environments make you feel this way.
Sit with the silence and the feel unease of emotional and physical discomfort. Don’t ignore or distract yourself from life’s difficult moments because they will show up again and again and again until you have the strength to come face to face with your inner truth and connect with your higher self 🙏🏽

Continuing education credits ✅ Healing treatment by the GOAT of Japanese Acupuncture ✅
During Kiiko Matsumoto’s seminar in Philly this weekend, she spoke of a case in her practice which was similar to my own health condition. Kiiko treated a 62 year old woman with chronic kidney disease and a GFR of 53. Doctors wanted to put her on medication but she refused. After 7 months of treatment 2 times a month her GFR increased to 63, normal functioning kidneys! Coincidence? I think not!!!
The patient’s medical team were astonished to see such a dramatic change. Kiiko wasn’t so surprised😎
I was used as one of the case studies for the seminar and when Kiiko needles and palpated points on various parts of my body it felt like my low abdomen and low back had turned on and activated.
Acupuncture is such a beautiful balance of art and science which is why I was drawn to it in the first place.
This was my first experience with Japanese style Acupuncture and won’t be my last.
Excited to implement these method to and she’s the changes that take place on myself and others!

Relationships take work, effort and patience but if you are directing your energy in a way your partner is not responding, it can be difficult to move past certain barriers.
-
-
I read a book called The Five Love Languages and highly recommend it to anyone looking to deepen their connection with their partner.
-
-
♥️ WORDS OF AFFIRMATION -
•Verbal compliments are far greater than nagging words
•Words of encouragement require empathy and seeing the world from your partner’s perspective
-
-
♥️QUALITY TIME -
•Learn to listen to your partner’s needs
•Try not to let external factors distract you from your time together
•Plan activities you both enjoy doing together
-
-
♥️RECEIVING GIFTS -
•Small thoughtful gestures go a long way. Gifts don’t have to be expensive or time consuming
•Gifts can hold remembrances of special people, times or events
•And a little Louis or Gucci never hurt anyone 😝
-
-
♥️ACTS OF SERVICE -
•Do chores without being asked
•A helping hand makes your partner feel valued, appreciated and less likely to “nag”
•Engage in acts of service not because you have to but because it makes your partner happy
-
-
♥️PHYSICAL TOUCH -
•”Whatever there is of me resides in my body. To touch my body is to touch me.”
•Learning to touch your partner they way THEY enjoy can lead to greater intimacy and connection
•Holding hands, back rubs, pecks on the cheek, long embraces are all ways of showing your partner how much you love them
-
-
We respond to all of these languages however, there are predominant ones that tend to stand out.
-
-
What’s your love language? I’ll tell you my mind if you yell me yours...😉💕

When people sense you’re on the brink of greatness, it can make them reflect on themselves. They may respond in ways that can be hurtful and in the process make you question yourself.
Remember their outward projection has nothing do with you and everything to do with their own pain and insecurity.
Give them space and time to sort out their own issues while steering clear of their negative energy/behavior. Be aware and strive for things that make you feel happy and alive.
Keep doin’ you, shake that s**t off and try not to absorb negative energy.

If I were to ask my daughters if they thought 35 was old they’d probably say “Yea, you’re old mom!” If I were to ask my grandfather he’d probably say “You have your whole life ahead of you.”
The difference between the two, is perspective and experience.
Entering this year, I strive for the wisdom of the 85 year old, yet the imaginative free thinking of a 6 year old.
I strive to dive deeper into the seat of my soul to uncover and unravel anything that might hold me back from reaching my ultimate potential.
I strive to look at life with a beginners mind and appreciate the experiences that have made me stronger and wiser.
Cheers to 35 and always striving for more!

How to Combat the Vacation Come Down
Travel can open your heart and expand your consciousnes in ways you never knew possible.
When you’re back home settling in, the reality of work, kids and other obligations might leave leave you wondering if the experiences you had were merely a dream.
Here are a few tips to combat the vacation come down:
✈️ Hydrate. My number one recommendation for life. High altitudes and lower cabin humidity can leave you dehydrated. When you are dehydrated the cells in your body don’t function optimally and can decrease energy which can make jet lag worse. Dehydration can also leave you constipated. Drink water… lots of it.
✈️ Talk to anyone who wants to listen about your trip. Reliving the memories solidifies the experience and reminds you the trip did in fact happen. Show them pictures and highlights of your trip but don’t go overboard because they’ll get annoyed.
✈️ Expose yourself to as much daylight as possible. Sunlight will remind your body that it’s daytime and as much as it pains me to say this, avoid napping. Napping will set you back if you’re trying to acclimate to your time zone.
✈️ Get Acupuncture. Acupuncture gently helps reset your circadian rhythm to help you sleep deeper and feel more rested. It also helps relieve any muscle tightness acquired during travel and will reduce the stress and anxiety of getting back to your daily routine.
✈️ Give yourself time to settle in. Jumping right back into work is a bad idea. You’ll be exhausted and depending where you’ve travelled jet lag will get to you.
✈️ Start planning another vacation ASAP. When you’re on the vacation come down it’s all about chasing the high and nothing will get you going like researching your next destination.
✈️ Go with the flow. You might feel down or out of place or begin to think about changing certain aspects of your life. You expect to get back to reality to set back in 7-10 days after you’re home.
✈️ Have immense gratitude. Not everyone gets to travel so be grateful for the ability to see the world and to come back to life with fresh eyes. And remember your reality is actually pretty amazing✨💕

Let’s talk body image.
Growing up I quit ballet because I thought my thighs were too fat. As a teenager I was plump and was constantly chasing some fad diet that would eventually fail.
At 15 I worked at a health food store and started taking weight loss supplements. They worked initially but the weight came back and then some.
I felt so out of place watching all the beautiful California girls frolic on the beach. I showed up but wore board shorts to cover up my “child bearing hips” (a friends Aunt once told me that).
It was a constant cycle I felt couldn’t be broken. My relationship with food was horrible. I didn’t know how to eat properly. I would count calories and did not understand the concept of nutritional value or the types of foods that were wreaking havoc on my body.
In my late teens I began to run and by run I mean what most of you would consider a face paced walk lol. I started taking spin classes, doing yoga and lifting weights.
During this timeframe I went to India and got really, really, REALLY sick. It wasn’t the healthy way to lose weight and was totally accidental but I was 15 pounds lighter.
I knew I needed to heal and I needed to change the way I thought about food in the process. I was vegetarian for close to 3 years and started listening to my body more. When I was hungry I’d stop and ask myself “Am I really hungry or am I thirsty?” 9 times out of 10 I was thirsty and dehydrated.
I started eating slower and feeling the connection between my mind and body. I stopped feeling guilty for occasional indulgences and stared to enjoy food more. I stopped focusing on the way my body looked and put my attention into how it felt. It made me happy to move and eat healthy foods and I didn’t have to count calories.
I feel really great in my skin these days and grateful I was able to make the necessary changes to to become healthier.
Life is too short. Eat healthy, delicious foods, enjoy the progress you’re making and feel great in your body💛💛💛

This picture I took of a spiraling staircase in Athens reminded me of my thought process at times😜
Reminiscing on past experiences may cause feelings of sadness or despair, and ruminating on future events (that may or may not happen) can cause a level of anxiety. It is in the present moment that we can truly find happiness and peace.
Changing these behaviors and thoughts does not come easily. It is an active process that requires constant awareness.
The moments of presence, grace and love are outgrowing the low level emotions... and it feels sooooo good!!!
Breath, movement, gratitude, energy work and hydration have all been key factors in reestablishing balance in my body and minds eye.
What are some ways you combat your spiraling mind? .

We came across this amazing bookstore in Santorini. It happens to be world famous and I can see why. The brightly colored murals leading down into a cave like structure where books piled high make you feel like you are in something out of a movie. We bought 3 books and I’ve read 1 so far... mind you it was only 110 pages and half of it was translated in Greek... it’s about quality not quantity!
Here’s an excerpt that caught my attention from “Epictetus - Manual on the Art of Living, “If someone tells you that so-and-so speaks ill of you, do not defend yourself against what he says, but answer, ‘He did not know of my other faults, or he would have not mentioned these alone.’”
Modern translation: “Whatcu know about me?! Hate on hater!”

Surround the dragon and top with a little moxa. Arthritic cyst, you’re goin’ down... literally and figuratively 😝. This patient was given surgery as the only option to remove the cyst. It is not causing pain or discomfort and is more of an annoyance than anything else. We’ve decided to start treating with Acupuncture to prevent any further fluid accumulation and hopefully reduce or remove the cyst all together!

I am usually pretty regimented in the mornings. Meditate (if I don’t sleep too late) help get kids ready for school while I drink a half cup of coffee or black tea, repeat myself 827473737 times on how we’re going to be late unless the we get ready and eat breakfast on time, wait patiently in school drop off line, encourage my able body to exercise and work harder than it would the rest of the day, sneak in an errand or two then back it is to the pick up line. Today my spirit said “turn left” on my way to the gym and here I am making a mess of a flaky, gooey almond croissant and slurping on an almond milk matcha latte. Today I am thankful for my routine and especially grateful to be able to break it once in a while 🙏🏽
