Another great AMBIT training just finished in Ireland. Meeting workers who do this stuff never ceases to inspire me. Incredible mix of passion, skill, lived experience and dedication is what tends to characterise the folk who choose to work with multiply disadvantaged youth who are excluded and stigmatized. If you're into this work, do look at our web based manual, gathering and disseminating what works from Evidence, local Expertise, and Experts by Experience.

The latest iteration of the AMBIT manual v.2.0 has just gone live at https://manuals.annafreud.org/ambit

Lots of improvements coming in the weeks to follow, including a major reordering of all the content, so that it is much easier to find your way around, and major improvements to the speed it loads, etc, etc.

We'd welcome any feedback from people browsing, especially from those that knew the old version...

The content is all the same, just a shinier new wrapper.

Busy times for AMBIT.

1. The book of AMBIT is finally out (Bevington, Fuggle, Cracknell and Fonagy (2017) "Adaptive Mentalization Based Integrative Treatment". Published by OUP, available widely, looking at a second print run already.)

2. We are in the middle of a major Health Education England funded project to train all the staff in residential care homes across Manchester and the NW, with a big evaluation of its effectiveness.

3. We've got a slew of further trainings booked in for the year ahead, and some exciting big bids in for major projects that would significantly help further development of the model and resources.

4. Speaking of resources, the MANUALS, after their migration to Anna Freud servers, are very shortly due to start showing the benefits of a major update (to an HTML 5 version) which will hugely improve usability.

5. We're just putting the finishing touches on a new series of video shorts to act as supportive materials for training facilitators, which will all, as ever, be freely available on YouTube and as embeds in the manual.

Finally, the book of AMBIT is here (Oxford University Press, 2017)!

By the lead developers of AMBIT from the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, Dickon Bevington, Peter Fuggle, Liz Cracknell and Peter Fonagy.

The authors have created a readable, coherent account of the innovative and adaptable approach that has developed incrementally through training relationships with over 200 teams across the world. AMBIT uses Mentalization as the integrative framework for making sense of how to help complex, excluded, risky and often not conventionally help-seeking populations.

Great day on Friday in Badalona, Barcelona.

Peter Fuggle and Dickon Bevington ran a pretraining consultation and planning event with 100 staff working with complex, hard to reach young people with mental health problems across this district in Catalunya. Clarifying the nature of the work they do already (what excellent work and relationships ambit would need to scaffold) and the areas they want to collaborate over to build on this, reaching towards clear measurable objectives for the training.

Very impressive work on integrating services and building collaboration had already taken place: staff from a wide range of services were present, and the was serious engagement by administration and local government: the day was opened by the Mayor of Badalona, with fantastic support from the local university, Medical, and social care foundations. Engaged, realistic, bold thinking and enthusiastic workers - truly inspiring.

So excited to get into the training proper now.
