Over 80,000 graves – both Chinese and Muslim – will be exhumed from now till 2030 to make way for the expansion of Tengah Air Base.

But what really happens during exhumation?

For Chinese graves, skilled gravediggers use only their bare hands to retrieve remains, following prayers and traditional rituals guided by a fengshui master.

Families are present every step of the way — from prayers to witnessing the final handling of their loved ones’ remains.
