💗 Valentine's Day, the Origin way.

We are so excited to introduce VAG by Origin. VAG is our Visual Art Gallery where we highlight artists whose work helps us connect with and heal our bodies.

As a women’s health company that specializes in treating pelvic conditions, we see firsthand how women can become disconnected from the center of their bodies — to the point where pleasure seems beyond reach and pelvic pain and other symptoms are minimized or ignored.

This disconnection and normalization of pain contributes to a hidden health burden that’s seldom talked about. Body-centered, empowering art can help shift the way we think and feel about our bodies, creating new possibilities for reconnection and healing.

📥 Know any artists who would be a good fit for VAG? Comment on this post and we'll reach out!

A place to celebrate female-identifying artists whose work encourages us to connect with and heal our bodies.

If you’re like us, you have friends and family members who have been eagerly waiting for Origin to come to their state. Today is the day!!! Our virtual care is now available in 35 states with more being added weekly.

We are thrilled that women and individuals with vaginal anatomy across the U.S. finally have access to high quality, affordable pelvic floor PT. It’s doubly exciting because expanding our care virtually seemed near-impossible just a few short years ago when physical therapy was only offered in-person and insurers weren’t open to covering virtual care.

THANK YOU to our incredible community of advisors, investors, brand partners, referring providers, and to our amazing patients who have become passionate advocates for pelvic health — we could not have reached this milestone without you.

Check the link in bio to find out which states are live and STAY TUNED FOR A SPECIAL GIFT coming later this week.

Your pelvic floor is an amazing group of multitasking muscles and connective tissues located at the base of your pelvis.

Surrounding your pelvic openings (vagnia, urethra, a**s), your pelvic floor muscles squeeze and lift to help keep you continent (aka help prevent bladder and bowel leaks). They also release and open, which is essential for supporting healthy pooping, pain-free s*x, optimal or***ms, and childbirth. As part of your core, they work with your abdominal and back muscles to provide stability and facilitate movement.

When these muscles don’t work properly, it’s called pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD).

COMMON SIGNS OF PFD:
💧 Bladder or bowel leaks (no matter how small)
🏃‍♀️ Urinary urgency or frequency
😖 Pain with vaginal pe*******on (gyno exams, tampon insertion, s*x) or s*xual dysfunction
🙈 Difficulty starting the flow of urine or having a bowel movement
🪨 Pelvic heaviness/feeling of your organs falling out (aka pelvic organ prolapse)
⚡️ Pelvic pain
💢 Low back pain

PFD can happen at any age and stage of life and we’re here to help! We offer in-person care in CA and TX and nationwide virtual physical therapy and coaching.

EXACTLY HOW MANY PELVIC FLOOR PTS ARE THERE?

ONE IN THREE U.S. women suffers from pelvic floor disorders every year.

While awareness of pelvic floor dysfunction is growing, there are far too few pelvic floor PTs available.

“There is no national registry of all pelvic health physical therapists, but we can use our membership numbers and APTA market share data to form an estimate,” says Aika Barzhaxynova, Executive Director of the APTA’s Academy of Pelvic Health, one of the two biggest professional associations for pelvic floor PTs.

Based on these numbers, it’s safe to assume there are fewer than 10k providers to treat 40 million people.

WHAT IS CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME?

💢 The carpal tunnel is exactly what it sounds like. It is a tunnel in your wrist composed of the carpal bones and the transverse carpal ligament through which nerves, tendons, and blood vessels pass.

🛑 One of the nerves that passes through your carpal tunnel is the median nerve, which provides neural input to portions of all your fingers except your pinky.

📛 When there is increased pressure on the carpal tunnel, it causes pressure on the nerves and vessels that pass through it causing symptoms.

♨️ If you have carpal tunnel syndrome, your hand will feel numb and tingly. You may also experience weakness and muscle wasting of the muscles at the base of your thumb, or have difficulty gripping, holding, or pinching your fingers together when trying to handle small objects.

WHAT IS A COREGASM?

Also known as an exercise-induce or**sm (EIO), a coregasm is yet another aspect of pelvic health that doctors don’t fully understand.

There is exactly one 10-year-old study on this topic, and it found that EIO was experienced by a surprising 23% of the 530 women surveyed.

Of those women, the majority (51%) said they had one or more EIOs when doing sit-ups, crunches, or other ab exercises.

But EIOs reportedly occurred with many other activities, including weight lifting (27%), yoga (20%), pilates (32%), running (13%), and even just walking (7%). So whether you've experienced a so-called coregasm once or every time you go to the gym, you are definitely not alone.

Headed back to work after having a baby? It’s never easy! Some things you can do before your first day back to help the transition go smoother:

- Talk about the plan with your baby — it can help you get mentally prepared.
- Do a practice run of your child care plan.
- Let your manager know when you’ll arrive and when you’ll have to leave.
-If breast/chest feeding, talk to HR about when/where you’ll be pumping.
- Find a working parents support group (like ), so you know you’re not alone.
