Next up in our series of Meet the Team is Angela. AKA “The Boss”

Angela, has a strong passion for providing support and resources to the Active Feet Team to allow us to provide a high quality of care to all of our patients in both our Edinburgh and Haddington clinics.

Angela’s positive attitude, motivates the Active Feet Team to be one of the leading Footcare Specialists in Scotland

Hi, I'm Angela. I am the Director of Active Feet.

Back in 2006 i opened the doors to my first Podiatry clinic in Haddington East Lothian. Since then, I have expanded into Edinburgh. In June 2022 we opened the doors to our brand-new state of the art clinic in Morningside Road in Edinburgh. Over the last 16 years i have grown from being a sole practitioner to having a fantastic team of 9 Practitioners and 3 support staff. As a team we pride ourselves on tailoring treatment plans t our patients specific needs, we do this by investing in high quality state of the art equipment to treat, Fungal Infections, Verruca’s, Sports Injuries and Gait Analysis ensuring our patients receive the best evidence-based treatments anywhere in Scotland.

When i am not in the clinic i can be found at the nearest ski slope with my 2 children who are keen Alpine Race Skiers.

What a crazy ski race season 23/24 has been for our Sponsored Athlete, Holly McKey. From one extreme to another. PB's and great points results, tough races, injuries 🤙and illness😔

Holly decided to manage her own coaching, training and racing programme rather than doing with an Academy or Club, which is definitely a challenging way to go!! 😳🫣

Holly unfortunately broke her thumb, for about the third time 😳🫣 and had to head home for an excruciatingly long five weeks to let it heal! Luckily no surgery required, this time !!🫣 However a thumb broken in two places did not stop the training and Holly hit the gym 🚲💪🏋️‍♂️

Holly was training and racing from December to March and achieved some amazing results which included Two GBR Overall Podiums, a GBR Junior Win at the Scottish FIS races in Bormio. 🥈🥈🥇 and came away with great FIS point scores in Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G and Downhill.

The British Indoor and Artificial season has just kicked off with Holly starting her racing at Chill Factore competing in the Copper Horse GBR Indoor Series which we will update on after the fifth and final race in July. 😊

Fantastic Emergency Life Support training course for all staff a couple of weeks ago in our Edinburgh clinic.

Although it is an essential training course for our Podiatrists we feel it is important for all staff to be trained on how to use our in clinic Defibrillator and have basic First Aid training.

It was lovely to also welcome Seamus, Claire and Joanna to join in the training with us.

Next up in our series of Meet the Team is me 😃

Hi i'm Gillian, I am the Clinic Manager at Active Feet.

I have been with Active Feet for 5 years and my original position was to assist in branding and marketing the company which progressed to becoming Clinic Manager.

I assist with many aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, staff training, business development, branding and supporting the team to ensure that they have all that they need to enable them to treat our patients in the best possible way.

I enjoy working with our enthusiastic team in both our Edinburgh and Haddington clinics and when I am not in the clinic I enjoy spending time with my family ideally on holiday in sunnier climates but if my children have anything to do with it I will be shopping with my daughter or having a Nerf Gun battle with my Son !

MEET THE TEAM MONDAY -

Next up in our series of Meet the Team is Garry.

Garry is one of our Admin Support Team who is located off site.

Garry is an absoloute Godsend when the clinic is choc a bloc with patients getting checked in and out and he makes sure that the phone is answered and all patient appointments are confirmed amongst many of the other tasks that he carries out to ensure the diary is running smoothly.

Although you might not see Garry in the clinic you can be assured he is working away in the backround as one of our invaluable support staff.

When Garry is not assisting the clinic he is heavily involved in cycling and triathlon. He competes and trains himself as well as help others achieve their sporting goals. Garry takes great interest in some of the more complex MSK cases and enjoys finding out how our specialists have resolved an issue and made a bespoke tailor made plan to get our patients back on the road to recovery.

MEET THE TEAM MONDAY -

Next up in our series of Meet the Team is Alex. Alex is based in our Haddington branch. Some of you may remember Alex when she was based in our Edinburgh branch. It's lovely to have Alex back as part of the team.

"Since graduating from Queen Margaret University back in 2011, I have always worked within private practice.

Some of you may recognise me from a few years back, when the company was called Podiatry Plus, I’ve recently rejoined the team and I am really enjoying being back.

I love the podiatry profession, I love how it is ever evolving and I love the challenge that in itself brings. There is always a new way to do something or a new skill to learn. And that’s why it’s particularly exciting being part of the team here at active feet, having access to all of the latest technology, it’s so easy to offer the very best in patient care.

In my spare time I’m a busy mum to our young family, so I’m usually found on a football pitch or in the latest play park.

MEET THE TEAM MONDAY -

Next up in our series of Meet the Team is Emma.

Emma is based in our Edinburgh clinic but assists patients for both our Edinburgh and Haddington clinics.

Emma is the lovely smiling face that welcomes you into our Edinburgh clinic and 9 times out of 10 is the cheery voice at the other end of the phone when you call.

"Since qualifying in Beauty Therapy in 2016 at Borders College I have always loved looking after people and hearing their stories. I became especially interested in nails during this time and after graduating college gained a few more qualifications and became a nail technician. Over the years I have loved how much of a difference it makes helping people with not only their physical journey but emotional as well. I am very excited to learn more in depth podiatry skills and broaden my skills more while working as part of the reception team.

Some of you may pick up that my accent isn’t local, originally from Galashiels in the Scottish Borders I have loved moving to the “big city” and experiencing Edinburgh life.

If I’m not doing a set of nails or finding out the latest gossip you will usually find me in the theatre seeing the latest shows and plays that are on tour."
