Meet Mr Ruwan Wimalasundera, Medical Director of the London Ultrasound Centre and Head of Obstetrics at the world renowned University College London Hospital (UCLH). He manages all aspects of pregnancy and delivers at UCLH and the Portland Hospital. He specialises in high risk pregnancies including older mothers and multiple pregnancies, where he is one of the leading experts in the UK and is highly regarded amongst his peers.
He has appeared in several documentaries on multiple pregnancy and has published numerous research papers on the subject of fetal medicine. Ruwan studied at King's College School of Medicine and has won many awards including the coveted British Maternal & Fetal Medicine Society Prize in 2004. He completed his PhD at Imperial College London and was lead for fetal medicine at Imperial College Healthcare Trust before moving to ULCH in 2013. He is regularly involved in producing national guidelines in obstetrics and is currently on the NICE and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist Guidelines Committees.
Mr Wimalasundera is available all day on Wednesdays and on Friday afternoons.
